Jenkinrocket's Top Ten (Semi) Obscure Anime #7: Serial Experiments Lain
Go here for Obscure Anime #10.
Down the rabbit hole we go with #9: Serial Experiments Lain. In this deeply philosophical cyber punk story, Lain Iwakura begins to dive deep into the Wired, the net of the future. Things get weird when a dead students sends her a message claiming that she is not only still be alive, but has found God.
This is when things start to get strange. You leave every episode feeling you're Lain, unplugging yourself from the Wired. Your memories will be scattered, your understanding will be dim, and there are even odds that you'll have a smile on your face.
For this show I'm going to put a small disclaimer: some anime are obscure for a reason. Serial Experiments Lain is certainly not for everyone. But even so, it's still worth giving a shot. It'll just be so different from anything you've seen, that at the very least you'll be thankful for the experience. Think of it as an experiment.
Obscure Anime #6 up soon.

I love Lain Serial Experiments!! Gotta get it for dvd so even with a blackout and generator I can still watch it! Project it on the side of a building! It was a precursor to The Matrix!! Another anime I really like is Ergo Proxy! I will stick around to see if you know it!
It's awesome to hear someone be as enthusiastic about these as I am. Ergo Proxy, eh? Go check out #10 on the list ;).
