Thank you for sharing your experience, I can imagine how it is lately there are many fans and normally few hours after opening it is crowded, of course people who have the same interests feel themselves really like one, they have same hobby, same interests and it is nice to share the thoughts and ideas about their hobbies. I, myself have never been on such convention, I just do not like crowded area, but was really glad to hear your thoughts.
I went to this convention last year and the crowd size wasn't nearly as large. I think it had a lot to do with this unsuccessful anime convention New York Comic Con tried to put on. People got disgusted and attendance at this convention soared.
I do not know very much about your topic, but the post is very interesting. The first photos you took before the crowds came still look very crowded to me.
I've been out of the states for a few years now and the security aspect is pretty intense. I remember it from being there, but had forgotten how seriously they take it.
I love your action shot of the guys with the light sticks. Good catch! And the building is awesome with the glass roofs. You last shot is a wonderful crowd scene and looks like so much fun :)
Yes, the crowds were pretty big even early into the convention day. But they were huge around the time I was leaving!
I find that it's been more intense in Manhattan especially in the past few years. Bigger conventions (like New York Comic Con) actually have metal detectors you have to walk through to enter. Times Square has also always been a nightmare, but they have so many officers and military personnel walking around with semi-automatics I avoid areas with huge crowds now.
And thank you! It really was a fun event, despite everything that happened.
Photos posted on FB by my friends who attend anime shows like that are usually their tandem photo with life-size anime characters. It is interesting not to see photos of life-size anime characters on your post. Or maybe because you haven't focused much on them that you capture these shots instead?
Anyway, your experience is indeed annoying.
I was completely pissed that I was accused of stealing, and that I watched someone else also walk in and they weren’t even checked.
It is very good of you to hold off writing until you cooled down. Sometimes that is the best action to take rather go in haste. Discrimination is everywhere I guess. Even here on Steemit, unfortunately. But to your point, maybe things will get better. There are more things to look forward to for the next time. As they say, look at the brighter side. 😊
Haha I do have a few of those photos, but I enjoy taking shots of people interacting with an event or capturing experiences more. I'm thinking of posting a photo dump to my blog since I just have so many still sitting on my camera.
Yes, I didn't want any anger or bias to come through in the review - hopefully, it turned out okay. It was weird, I am "the same color" as the person who did it, but the other girl who went unchecked was not. I don't really know what happened with that situation but I know it wasn't any fun.

It is a sad reality when discrimination is from your "own". As they say, some people tries to attach themselves with the Joneses even if the sun says it does not fit. But it's them, not you. So indeed...

Why didn't you show the Black clover badge? I love that anime hehe.
Does the otakus in NY have a bad smell? I live in Venezuela and in the conventions otaku are usually very smelly. Do not be offended, I am also otaku. but I assure you, I have never had bad smells.
How much cost an entrance to that convention ? and what is the price list of one of your photographs, I mean what they sell?
I almost do not see cosplayers in the photos you share. Is not there a lot to see in NY?
I usually split my photos between my website or instagram. So the Black Clover badge will be on IG soon, along with cosplayer photos. I've been under the weather lately so I haven't been active online and have gotten backed up on my posting schedule.
Haha it was pretty bad. Not necessarily B.O., but there were a lot of people coughing and sneezing. I wore a mask the entire time I was there. I don't know what it is, but people who go to conventions sometimes don't shower or exercise proper hygiene. It seems people even do that in Venezuela at conventions =/
I paid $50 USD for a Saturday ticket. I think the weekend ticket for Friday, Saturday and Sunday was $65. They had a very successful convention it seems, as tickets for next year are already available and Saturday has gone up to $60 after September and the weekend to $70.
My photos? I don't have them on any websites for purchase. I thought about it once but didn't think they were good enough.
Cosplayers were there! Almost every other person seemed to be in cosplay! I just didn't include any of those photos, I usually put Cosplayers on my instagram so that way if someone knows who they are, I can tag them so they can see their photos.
