Taff Top 10 Most Anticipated Anime of 2019
Hello there! I’m Taff and 2018 have just passed and we are now entering 2019. It's time to see what will be in the near future!
It's my very own Top 10 Most Anticipated Anime of 2019
But before that, let’s go through some honourable mentions.
Kemono Friends 2 January
This is so sad. I would had this on my list just for the reason it was Kemono Friends. Kemono Friends was an underdog that took a dead and unsuccessful game to be one of the Japan's best newcomers of 2017. Now, after firing the staff, firing the director, changing the studio, changing the character models, changing the main character, changing the story, it feels like this series was just a one-hit wonder.
Cobra: Return of Joe Gillian - TBA
I would honestly not even mention this seeing how no news have been given during the entire. That is until I saw Shibuya Productions responded to my FB message. So I guess an honorable mention is fine for now. Please finish Cobra!
Made in Abyss Season 2 - TBA
No news but only movies of the previous season wtf?
Pop Team Epic Season 2 - TBA
This could had been a joke, but I’m never know if it will surely appear again.
10. Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya (Netflix) - July
This was in the 8th spot last year, why has it now moved out of this years list? Well it’s complicated. You see I was hyped for this show to a degree. I liked the concept and the poster looked nice. Then when I saw the trailer for a few weeks ago and I couldn’t believe how bad they started. Let me just say that changing the gender of a character because it's too hard to add a new character in an establish story is bulllshit. It is hard to make the character relevant and as great, but not just putting it there.
9. Promare -TBA
I have no idea what this anime is about outside from looking like a good old mech anime. It’s on the list, but I can’t place it higher because I want to know if this series is any good beyond its style and presentation.
8. Aggretsuko Season 2 - TBA
Well now, it seems that our Red Panda has gotten another season on Netflix. Little has been revealed on what it will be about, but I suspect it will be another day in the office.
7. Fate series - January and All Year
FATE FATE FATE FATE FATE FATE FATE! LALALALA! FATE FATE FATE FATE!
This year is packing with fate related series. We have Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel 2 coming out in January, which the month that also show a special of the spin off that will also air in July. That spin-off is a tv show starring Waver from Fate Zero. We then also have an OVA based on another spin-off comedy show. We also have four more entries that just revolves around the mobile game Fate Grand Order. We have the educational yet comedic show about the game, we have the adaptation that takes place in the sevenths main story line and two movie adaptation that is about the sixth story. That’s eight entries which 2 specials, 3 are movies and 3 are tv shows. Jesus Christ other series would only dream to have these many content appearing at once. This is the year you want to get into this series.
6. One Punch Man Season 2 - April
One Punch Man is finally returning back after 3 years of hiatus. The trailer didn’t impress me much since it only showed character standing around with hardly any movements. This makes me wonder if this studio
5. Vinland Saga - TBA
Yes! Finally an anime that takes place in Scandinavia! Vinland Saga is about a boy who becomes a mercenary for a bunch of vikings. No trailer has been revealed so far tho but that's a good poster.
4. City Hunter Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes - February
Finally Akira Kamiya doing a role he was famous for back in the good old days. City Hunter isn’t just a back from its slumber, it looks slick as well. With some good VAs returning to their role and with a fun cast, this movie seems to be a good celebration.
3. Dragon Ball Super Movie: Broly - January
Okay this one is sort of cheating. The Japanese premiered just few days ago, yet we have not gotten a English releases. So seeing how I want to see this one I guess it does count as something in 2018.
This movie has quite the hype and they been promoting this movie like hell. WelI guess it needs to prove itself if all the hype was worth it. Especially since Broly is there.
2. Dororo - January
Okay, so this adaptation was unexpected consider how irrelevant this story was for today's audience, the latest adaptation was over 50 years. Yeah back then when everything was in black and white! The last appearance for any of the character from this was in Young Black Jack. So seeing Dororo again looking like this is welcoming and so fascinating at the same time. I do hope this anime is better than from the visuals.
1. Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 - January
Yes! Bones returning to this charming series for it's second season. I have prevented myself from reading the manga and it seems to have payed off. Now I can enjoy myself knowing nothing off what going to happen. Also the pic is not Mob, but his mentor Reigen. Just to be clear.
Here's the previous top ten of last year.
