Sword Art Online Season 3

Sword Art Online Season 3 has been reportedly announced and could premiere soon. Recently in the exclusive screening of “SAO: Oridinal Scale” in the end credits the creators teased with the confirmation of SAO Season 3. Sword Art Online is a mega hit light novel series that sold 19 million copies worldwide. The amine adaptation also earned very good review from fans as well as critics and is one of the most commercially successful anime series. The second season was concluded on 20 December 2014, and it has been a long wait for the fans. If you are not familiar with the anime series below is a brief description:

Sword Art Online is the anime adaptation of mega hit Japanese light novel series of the same name written by Reki Kawahara. The anime series debuted back on July 7, 2012, and was aired on Tokyo MX and was aired on Adultswim in territories of North America. Just like the light novel series, anime adaptation earned great popularity and became a commercial success. The plot is set in 2022, a virtual reality world where a VR game called Sword Art Online is released, and it is VRMMORPG which comes with a nerve gear, a sword, and a helmet. This game stimulates the player’s all 5 senses into a gaming reality. 10,000 players log into the SAO’s mainframe cyberspace for the first time, and finds out they cannot log out of the game. Kayaba game’s creator appears and tells the players they need to beat all the 100 floors and a steel castle to be free. And if someone tries to forcibly remove the helmet or suffer death in the game they will die in the reality also.

The plot revolves around series’ main protagonist Kirito who is one of the 1000 testers to play SAO’s beta version and with his experience he tries to free all the other players trapped in the game. He separates himself from the group and plays the game alone, on his way he meets a young girl called Asuna, later Kirito marries Asuna in the game. The duo together finds out that Kayaba himself is playing as the leader of the guild Asuna. The duo together confronts Kayaba and destroys him in order to free others as well as themselves from the game.

SWORD ART ONLINE SEASON 3 SPOILERS

Anime fans may finally see the “Alicization” arc in SAO Season 3, previously producer Shinichiro Kashiwada also hinted that he would like to see it in Sword Art Online Season 3. He said he would love to see Kirito and other SAO characters in the Alicization arc as this storyline hasn’t been introduced in the anime yet.

In the third season, we will see Kirito working for a mysterious organization called Rath, under the instructions of VR Crime Division officer Kikouka Seijiro. Kirito will be testing a 4th generation FullDive machine called “Soul Translator.” Kirito will observing be the effect of this device on humans and will gather more information. However, Kirito is unaware that this organization will be using “Soul Translator” for military purposes.

Later when the machine becomes compliant Rath creates a new virtual world called “Underworld.” Moreover, Kirito will get trapped in this world at some point and will live 11 years of his life as a child as Underworld’s timeline is thousand times faster than the real world.

Unfortunately, for now, no official release date has been announced or teased yet. It is confirmed that we will get Sword Art Online Season 3 in near future as the production has been already working on the anime.
