One Piece: Wano Arc has anything in common with Void Century?
The Wano Country arc is the most important arc in the One Piece series. Eiichiro Oda himself even said that the Wano arc would present something bigger than what had been presented before. The Wano arc is also said to be a sign that the story in the One Piece series will soon be finished, because it means that the story has reached 70-80%.
The Wano arc itself shows a story about the struggle of Luffy and the Red Scabbards and Kozuki Momonosuke to free Wano from Kaido's clutches and also Orochi, the Shogun who leads Wano at this time. And 20 years earlier, this struggle was carried out by Kozuki Oden, Momonosuke's father. Unfortunately, Oden's attempt failed, so this is the second attempt.
From what has been presented so far in the story, the Wano arc indeed has a much more massive story scale. This is also evident in the ongoing battle at Onigashima. Talking about the Wano arc as well as the story, there is an interesting theory that has developed among fans. The theory itself states that there is a possibility that what is happening in Wano today is a picture of what happened in the lost century (Void Century).
There are several important points presented in the Wano arc. First is the theme of the fight against Kaido (and also Orochi). The second is the appearance of the awaited figure. The figure is believed to bring a big change (Dawn) to Wano and the whole world. These two important points are the basis that it is possible that the Wano arc has similarities to what happened in the lost century.
In Pangea's palace in Mary Geoise's territory, where the Gorosei and Im lived, there was a building that was considered a storage room. There, we see how Im keeps a giant straw hat that many believe belongs to Joy Boy. What is interesting is that in the building there are holes in the walls, which resemble pillars.
Many fans assume that it is a space where the bodies or tombs of Joy Boy are stored from various generations. As many fans have theorized, the Joy Boy figure is actually not a person's name but a title that belongs to someone who is chosen. Kaido himself had mentioned the name Joy Boy, when Luffy lost. This strengthens the notion that Joy Boy is indeed a person's title.
As presented in the story, about 800 years ago an Ancient Kingdom had to face a combination of 20 other kingdoms where the Ancient Kingdom was finally destroyed. However, there is a prophecy that someone will appear who will bring a new dawn to the world. The figure is none other than Joy Boy. The first Joy Boy to leave the Poneglyphs on a fish-man island, failed to do what it was supposed to do to stop the World Government. He failed to help the Ancient Kingdom stop them.
This may also have happened to other Joy Boys in the last century. This is a possible reason why there is an assumption that the building in Im's palace is the tomb of the Joy Boys. And because of that, the world is currently waiting for the next Joy Boy. Why then does the figure of Joy Boy always fail to carry out their "duties"?
The reason was probably because the heavenly dragon side as well as Im knew about the prophecy. So they are trying to prevent the prophecy from coming true. The way that can be done to stop Joy Boy from appearing is to do a "massive cleaning" or what is known as the Great Cleansing.
They will finish off important figures who may be able to bring the New Dawn to the world. In addition, they will also kill people who are considered to be able to help realize the prophecy. This could also be the reason the World Government (especially the Gorosei) consider the Nefertari family to be traitors – even to be killed.
In addition to killing people who can help or are considered important in the realization of the prediction about the emergence of Joy Boy, the World Government also destroys various existing evidence. This may be the reason why the 800 year time period is considered a lost century, because there is no historical evidence stored as a result of being destroyed by the World Government.
As a form of "resistance," in the end all the information that contains the various histories and information of the lost centuries and ancient weapons is stored in the poneglyph. The poneglyphs were then distributed to various parts of the world. And in Laugh Tale itself there may be other information or tools that can help the figure of Joy Boy or anyone else to be able to bring a New Dawn to the world.
So, the conclusion is that what is happening in the Wano arc now may actually have something in common with what happened during the lost century. We see the struggles of Luffy, Red Scabbards, and Momonosuke against Kaido and Orochi. This seems to show the struggle of the Ancient Kingdom in the face of the existing alliance of 20 kingdoms.
Then how the Ancient Kingdom at that time was waiting for the figure of Joy Boy who was believed to bring big changes, helping them liberate the world. Luffy is currently in Wano helping defeat Kaido and Orochi. Many clues lead to the assumption that Luffy is Joy Boy. This has also been predicted by the figure of Toki, who came from 800 years ago.
The question then becomes whether Luffy will fail like the other Joy Boys? Rayleigh once said that when the Straw Hats arrived at Laugh Tale and learned about the lost century, they would probably have a different ending. Maybe Luffy will succeed in bringing a New Dawn to the world and make this world a free world. Luffy will also probably succeed in defeating the World Government.
