One Piece: Roger Is Dragon's Brother?

Monkey D. Dragon is one of the great unsolved mysteries to date. We don't know much about Dragon, other than he is Luffy's father and the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Many puzzles appear related to the figure of Monkey D. Dragon including about his past. With his mysterious figure, many fans then guessed about his figure.

Why is Monkey D. Dragon so eager to destroy the World Government, in this case the sky dragons, and not the navy? That's what is still a mystery to this day and makes fans curious. There are many theories circulating about the figure of Dragon and also his past. For example there is a theory that Dragon was once a naval officer or an agent of Cipher Pol.

What is also interesting is that there was a theory that stated that Monkey D. Dragon and Gol D. Roger had a connection or relationship. In theory it is stated that Dragon and Roger are brothers. At first glance, this theory is certainly interesting, because both of them have big dreams and are figures who want to be free without being bound by existing rules.

In theory it is also stated that Dragon and Roger are half-brothers born to different mothers. So, what is the basis of this theory? The first is Ace. In the war at Marineford, Garp seemed uncomfortable in his position. He had a dilemma where on the one hand he wanted to save Ace from his death. But, on the other hand, he had to carry out his duties as a marine.

Does this guilt arise because Garp was never around when Ace was growing up, or does this attitude explain Garp's anxiety because he knows that Ace is part of his family, his flesh and blood, his biological grandson?

Then another clue presented in his theory is that Garp and Roger have fought many times. But why do they never kill each other? This could be because Garp didn't want to kill his own son. And just like Roger, he didn't want to kill his own father either. So their fights often end in a draw.

However, this theory also states that Dragon did not know at all that he was Roger's brother, because Dragon did not react to Ace's death. Because once again, the two were born from different mothers and Garp was probably hiding that from Dragon.

Awkwardness

This theory does sound interesting. Moreover, Eiichiro Oda is often known as a mangaka who brings big surprises that fans did not expect before. However, regardless of how interesting the theory is, there are some inconsistencies or plot holes to be aware of in the theory. One of them is the age of these two characters.

If he is still alive, the age of Gol D Roger is the same as Garp's age, which is 78 years. With Roger's age being equal to Garp's, of course it is very unlikely that Roger is Garp's son. Then, if Roger is indeed Garp's son, then Garp should have revealed it to Luffy, just like when Garp introduced Dragon to Luffy.

But, in fact, Garp has never discussed or mentioned this. During One Piece's story, Roger is often mentioned as Garp's eternal rival, and an enemy of the World Government. So it may seem strange if then the eternal rival is actually father and son. If you really wanted to force a theory, what should have happened was that Garp was Roger's brother.

But if Garp is indeed Roger's father, then the attitude he shows will not be the same as what he has presented so far. So, one can conclude that it is unlikely that Monkey D. Dragon and Gol D. Roger are related by blood or become brothers, although the theory itself may be interesting and extraordinary.
