Oh crap, Assembly is in two days! by Nanohenry

Assembly Online 2020 Demo competition entry

Not really in a chatty mood, i had this one lined up since it spells : "funny" as most of the best demoscene works do, given the fact that the hardware is limited (unlike pc-demos) the trick lies in the gimmick or the punny

This one caught my eye much too

these are the men who built america ... after a fashion, be it not that afaik most demoscene is pretty much european (go figure why no one is musk here , maybe no one wants the hassle or something its not lack of talent) with a concentration around scandinavia of all times but a lot from the direction of poland in the latter years i see

this guy is a british uni-guy ... these are the guys who build you the engine you use to no-code a game ... without them .. YOU would be left with notepad and pâint

(mind the fact that the guy IS using notepad btw - not some fancy envo like sublime or whatnot of the costly ones)

I dont remember too much of that since i never went too deep in it

LDA $D000,0 (outer border black)

ROL
ROR
ROL
NOP
NOP
NOP

(roll a joint in assembler) and ... i frankly cant remember a hard branching instruction in like 1 - 3 opcodes including the memory address like the one he uses there , i know JMP (its the evilest thing of all in basic : GOTO, bad practice as the "high-level" intellectuals would say but in essence the machine itself has never heard of heavy slow stuff like functions, or objects ... or the dreaded "my kilobytes are ten times yours" called JSON for that matter

oh,

small edit , yes, actually i , not too long ago, was watching a video on php optimization since :

what that does is run it in a virtual machine call zend where it translate the script it parses into

taddaaam opcodes (b/c frankly spoken the machine does not speak php at all) and i saw that guy do all kinds of nasty stuff like "concatenating is faster than inline quoting" since 1 to x less opcodes and what not

BUT

im not sure all of that aint wasted in the age where everyone on the planet tells you "JSON" is the way forward and the in-crowd chuckles over lamers who dont even know how to serialize an array

all of THAT instead of using custom data-formats b/c the other guy on the team cant read lol

workflow over efficieny

im too much of an autist to handle that (i guess , but they tell me no one can use the word autistt - in any way at all - unless documentary makers in 2020 - but i have been called that, ... or asked if i am ..if you feel i am, i would urge you to label me with it, it wont hurt my already plush jacked full of cosy labels it acts like padded armour and in essence what it DOES is turn me from "weird" (e.g. primitive brainstem = threat since unknown) into something quantified, i mean classified with a proven term that says "aHA, i KNOW this!"

in short it makes me less of a perceived threat so by all means ... i take any label except psychopath or pedophile .. thats ... thats contra-productive more or less

gud (and im NOT trying to be funny even if im sure i sometimes am)

gud ...

gud, fine ...

yes well

bue
ah well yes

ah bonus question for the 25th vote : YES , indeed

it would already be faster using literal than quoting in doubles "$tring" since on parsing it doesnt have to replace all those instances like as if it were constants of whatever version of incrowdspeak php would use ... define i think but the guy showed that there were actually LESS OPCODES ON EXECUTION , "after" compiling doing that, which

... the last version is finally using cached pre-compiled executables instead of caching parsed data ready to compile
from JIT (just in time) it GIT gud and all that - but

as said, anyone see the bytevolume on a json string compared to customized and still thinks its a good idea .. (like the steem blockchain lol but i dont think it keeps that way on an actual but im not sure i think condenser (the api) just shoves it ouward -> as "easy to read" json

if you have a custom client you could probably halve datatraffic or better and afaik internet is the bottleneck usually BUT ... its not just transmission since even when optimized up to yo-m000 a$* you have no control over hops and connection time and such and so

nooo - with all that (if adopted ofcourse, i hurr wordpress the world had to FORCE hosts to update their php version to the latest at some time - i do not understand) lots of stuff wont matter since your best option is the best streamlined executable and how long your script is ... if you have control over what the server does, how long your script is (bytewise) doesnt really matter (you can use 500character variable names for instance) since afterwards it wont be and the final version is kept, the server doesnt have to load x kilobytes every time and run over them , process, alter, put together and translate since its already done that etc. etc ...

so far my opinion on "no coding"

now "back to the world " with sports, lockdown parties , corona and some twisted spamm app that stil thinks im looking for a date

I HAVE NEVER MADE AN ONLINE DATE BUT MORE $X than yo-m0000, where did that thing come from

no comment

and with that ...

neo pixel art

Release the Kwaken by Tomi Väisänen - i think i found it in the Assembly (even) online collection, it also spells : "LOL" as all best demos then to do (its kinda hard to impress with just shiney unless you find a way to get raytracing in HDR at 4K on a pico8 ofcourse - ... but it can still happen like spectrals, which im gonna post later)

and thats that, im REALLY not all too chatty - folks are back in belgium ... apparently theres NO control posts at the border - everyone can just drive in and out and they want the citizens to take responsiblity (meanwhile 10 or 20 lockdown parties get busted a week here in towelsized soviet hellgium)

and so, my chances of getting infected is now +2 (people) where before i let no one in and like

dont go out (but i already did that before)

gud ... thanks for reading if you did, not if you didnt, thanks double for voting and half of nothing if you didnt ...

they just keep coming while checking, this looks a bit like "notch-for-poor-people" ... after i get my stemcelltherapy to fix my worn out bones, get my tooth fixed with the dead nerve that needs removing and then save another billion to clone myself i certainly NEED to try these things out one by one ...

to a lesser extent for the real freaks :

... i have a vocore here but one of the pins is bent and i shrined it since im not mister solder ... maybe one day when im on mars and its clear skies again

i will try to link more - i use appgamekit by gamecreators too myself but thats not a free program and if anyone says "notch" , please slap them around with a few 1000 dollar bills (bc you will be needing that)

Sort:

yeah i can humbly say, i never made it past notepad either:)))

on linux due to having 12 or more desktops i find myself using a blend of xed (= notepad for linux mint) , geany and sublime ... geany comes with some frames pre-packed in a custom compiled version and xed doesnt do large files or binary while sublime does so, even a 10kb file

which reads like 10.000 bytes more like looks readable in sublime

but not in xed :) ...

and such and so but i dont have to explain that to you im sure

all that shiney stuff is too distracting

hmm never thought about limits of a text editor before but every now and then i find myself with 5-10 copies of the same file open, it's only a problem if that's the file im working on :))) and occasionally i might use sublime if i lose a punctuation mark or bracket which can be nuts trying to find:))).
