Leon - Our Regal Ragdoll

Here is a photo of our 6 month old Ragdoll cat, Leon. He is usually camera shy and would turn away when a camera is pointed at him. I managed to get this photo of him while he was distracted with something outside the study window.

We've adopted other cats before; including two Singapura cats. While they were nice to their immediate family members, they were somewhat hostile to strangers. We adopted Leon 'with fees' from a home breeder. We are convinced that Ragdolls are the near perfect cats. They have a gentle temperament, peaceful, largely quiet and affectionate. Luckily, none of us are allergic to him.

Fun fact about the breed's name: The name "Ragdoll" is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up. Source: Wikipedia

Here's an interesting video about Ragdolls from a Singapore breeder (not the one where we got Leon from):

Awe! Leon is a very handsome fellow <3

Thank you!

You are very welcome :)

The lightest cat on record is a blue point Himalayan called Tinker Toy, who weighed 1 pound, 6 ounces (616 g). Tinker Toy was 2.75 inches (7 cm) tall and 7.5 inches (19 cm) long.

Interesting cat fact!

The silks created by weavers in Baghdad were inspired by the beautiful and varied colors and markings of cat coats. These fabrics were called \tabby\" by European traders."""

That's interesting!

When a family cat died in ancient Egypt, family members would mourn by shaving off their eyebrows. They also held elaborate funerals during which they drank wine and beat their breasts. The cat was embalmed with a sculpted wooden mask and the tiny mummy was placed in the family tomb or in a pet cemetery with tiny mummies of mice.

A never ending list of cat related facts! Keep em coming! Thank you!

If they have ample water, cats can tolerate temperatures up to 133 °F.

That would be about 56C. That’s really warm. Summer temperatures in the Middle East & desert regions.
