I don't know about male beagle, but i do have a female beagle and maybe every beagle has a different personality. Mine is the best dog i ever have. After many strubborn-biter breeds in the past, now i have an obedience, quiet, people pleaser and docile dog ever. Sure its not an easy task to make her behave like what she is now, but basically its simple - teach them how to waste their energy with plenty exercise, walking, sniffing, training, playing and socializing and be firm so they see you as the leader in the house since they were a puppy. My Beagle always pee above the potty pad since she was 7 weeks old (now she always patiently waiting for me back from work to take her pee and poo outside), she could walking off leash, and always do all my commands and tricks. Since months ago she even becomes a teraphy dog for another scaredly-cat dog, make them more socialize and could play with another dog. She's 15 months old now and she lighten up my day every day.
