CBD & My Furbabies

Mittens (Darker Brown) & Misty (Gray & Peach)

Eighteen years ago, my father adopted the fluffiest little kitten I had ever seen. He's a brown tabby/Maine Coon mix, and all four of his paws are white...So he was named Mittens. He became like my child instantly (This was also shortly after my brother passed and he was like a 'companion' for me) I LOVED taking care of him. The first few weeks we had him, he wasn't eating much at all, so one day I had my step mom clean out a medicine dropper and I sat on the couch with him in my lap and hand fed him water. After this eating was never a problem. I was the happiest 11 year old ever...I FIXED HIM! From that day forward we were together the whole time I was at my fathers (parents were divorced so I was there half of the time). My father used to tell me how when I would leave, Mittens would sit by the door meow-ing and sniffing for me for hours. It broke my heart.

Snugglin' With Mama

When I got a bit older, my father left his then wife and I moved in with him. This is when we decided Mittens needed a friend for when we were both gone at work all day. Enter Misty!!! She was a little hyper ball of fire from the second we got her. She was always very quick with her movements and nervous around people. Never in a dominating way...I would describe it as anxious/nervous. This lasted until she was about 8, when my now husband first moved in with me he would spend hours finding her in her hiding places and talking to her and/or petting her, now she's far more social...it's really awesome.

Sometimes they love each other! lol

Fast forward to about 3 summers ago...Mittens started acting REALLY out of character. Not greeting me when I came home from work. Only leaving this cat scratcher thing (he was using as a bed) to eat and go to the bathroom and then went right back to laying in it. After about 24 hours of this behavior I called the vet and made an appointment. I brought him in...$250 for an exam and bloodwork. The results came back that his liver levels were off the charts and that I would need to come back In 2 weeks for an ultrasound (another $400) to see what was going on. They gave me a script for Amoxicillin and an appointment in 2 weeks...

The Amoxicillin helped a bit while he was on it. He still was extra 'lazy' but more himself then without medicine. Ultrasound day came and I. Was. Petrified. My husband was working so a friend came with me. The doctor takes my baby in the back room - I'm not sure if even breathed the whole time they were gone. The doctor comes back in the room shaking his head and patting my shoulder..."It's not good....He has a tumor in his liver, a tumor in his pancreas, gall stones and a kidney stone..."

My heart sank and my mind went absolutely blank....I managed to get out "Okay, can we remove them?"

He continues, "At his age (almost 15 at the time) I don't know that he would come out of surgery if we tried, and IF I were to operate, I would remove the gall stones"

Before I could think to filter myself, a borderline disgusted sound fell out of my mouth followed by "But why?!"

I don't even remember what his response was. This is when I started crying. Lost it. I don't remember anything other than my friend attempting to console me and the nurse bringing my baby back in the room. All I wanted was to get out of there. They gave me another 2 weeks of Amoxicillin and I left.

As soon as I got home I started doing research. I always advocate about the benefits that have been found with medicinal cannabis, specifically CBD. I googled "CBD oil and Cats"...that's when I found the most interesting discovery yet. In California, where laws were already made supporting Medicinal Cannabis...there is a lovely company called CannaPet ( www.canna-pet.com ). I ordered the capsules, I altered the dosage a bit so I could monitor his response. they say 3-4x a day, I started with one and went down to half a capsule every other day. Then they came out with liquid form and a dropper. I give him 3-4 drops every 2-3 days and he has been symptom-free for THREE years now! I'm in utter amazement and so so so thankful. This product has literally saved his life. I want to bring him for another ultrasound to see how much it has actually helped, but with the cost (and unnecessary radiation) of it, I decided to wait until he gets sick to put him through another one. But for now, I keep him on Canna-Pet and he's been doing wonderfully! I tell anyone about this who will listen.

YAY!!! Omg how did I not know this hahahaa, all the more reason to love Steemit!! What a great story! :) :) I'm just smiling so much!!! And that first picture of the two of em snuggling melted my heart as well <3 xoxoxoxo

I didn't post much about it on Facebook. One to explain to whoever saw it. But even when friends came over my husband Scott had to tell them what was going on and I had to leave the room. If I even heard it I would cry for hours. He's truly like my child and I can't imagine losing him yet. He is such a LOVE...you would adore him! Even my friends that don't like cats, love him! xoxoxoxo <3

Aww poor thing. I love cats!!! My fiance is allergic unfortunately : (, so, the things we give up for love. CBD is great, I was trying to take some for my migraines, but dang is it expensive.

Is it legal where you live yet? If not, that could be why it's so expensive

Also, on YouTube there's 'Binaural beats' they help my headaches a ton!!!

Oh lol yes it is very legal in my area, I feel more comfortable purchasing from stores that seem a little more credible but they are the pricier option. Oh yes, I listen to binaural beats also, they are helpful, sometimes I can't sleep with my migraines and they help with that too.

Oh well i'm glad they help you too! I love them.
