Deaf Dogs

This is Tizzy and her best mate Bella

Tizzy is an 8 year old Staffordshire bull terrier, and she is deaf.
We got tizzy when she was only 6 weeks old as the breeder was going to have her destroyed just for being deaf.

Everyone we spoke to said we should have her put down as she would not be able to cope.

Now I would like to say she is an amazing animal and learned hand gestures very quickly. she has had an amazing life and wants for nothing as she has given us nothing but pleasure.

Most people do not even know she is deaf unless we tell them, this we do have to do quiet a bit as we live very close to the beach so when people see my partner waving her arms around like a total mad woman we have to explain she is talking to to dog and not just loosing the plot.

There are a few things you have to do with a deaf dog that are different but it is only common sense.

Like at night turn a light on at night to get their attention and wake them before leaving them so they do not get stresses when they don't hear you leave them.

All in all, I can say with no reservation she has made our life fuller and we do not regret one second of having her.

So please if you have a deaf dog, give them a chance as they will pay you back more than you could imagine.
