Building Cat house for stray cats from left over wood !
I had these left over woods from previous projects lying around. I wanted to do something for our loyal friends, animals. Different from wild animals cats and dogs are depend on humans to survive. Especially in the big cities like Istanbul, in winter times they don't have anywhere to call a home, most people avoid street animals. We have many cats in my neighborhood and i decided to make a tiny cat house for them.
Entire build made of scrap woods, couple of screws , drill and a hand saw. 4 hours of work time because i had to figure out how to use different pieces into something useful.
Because of these are leftover woods from other projects they are all different size and shapes. Firstly i needed to figure out what should I do. In order to use woods efficiently , I took measurements and transferred them to 3D world in Google Sketchup.
First i need to build a base high enough that cold doesnt effect. I screwed a couple of woods together to make a base. This is by far the easiest part of the build because the pieces already have 3 other pieces screwed together. All i need to do is add the middle piece.
I had 7 piece of 31x7cm wood and i use 6 of them for the side walls here. And add small wood pieces to strengthen the structure. After that long pieces goes back wall. For the ceiling I had 2 flat pieces i screw them together and attached them to the body with "L" shaped brackets.
For the door I use existing curve of the wood , cut the size and screw them together and with the body structure.

What a wonderful thing you've done for the little felines in your area! I wish more people would do helpful little things for animals that are less fortunate. I think you've done a superb job with the idea, building, photographs, the final outcome and the post! :).

Thank you! Luckily majority of people living in my area are kind and feed the stray cats with proper cat food. But there are some vandals who always destroy or move the houses. I really don't get this people. I have built 3 cat houses so far, and each of them somehow disappeared from its place. It's really getting cold here , no snow yet. Probably i am gonna make something again for the little paws.
