Man invents mini inflatable raft to save animals from dying in swimming pools

in #animals7 years ago

Loads of frogs, lizards, and small animals are dying in swimming pools.

Why? Because while it’s easy for these animals to get in to pools, it’s not so easy for them to get out.

The animals can end up drowning, or getting sucked into a pool’s cleaning system, resulting in injury or death. Not good.

Wildlife biologist Rich Mason is hoping to provide a solution.

He invented the FrogLog – essentially a mini inflatable raft that attaches to the side of pools and allows any trapped animals to climb out of the water.

It’s made up of an inflatable platform with an attached mesh skirt (which allows animals to easily grab on), a weighted pouch which keeps the platform secure on the pool’s edge, and a mesh ramp that allows animals to walk up and out of the pool.

A trapped animal will instinctively circle the edge of the pool, bump into the FrogLog, and use it to clamber out.

That's probably the cutest invention I've come across lately. Very much innovative too. I believe I'm going to have very interesting conversations the more I read your posts. =D Cheers!

That's pretty freaking cool and good for him for taking the time to make something to fix a problem
