Dragonflies are a type of insect belonging to the Odonata nation. Insects are rarely located far from this water is also often we find in certain places such as parks or yard homes. Just like butterflies and bees, dragonflies also experience metamorphosis in their lifetime. The difference is, butterfly insects experience perfect metamorphosis, whereas the dragonflies are not, or simply experience imperfect metamorphoses. Starting from the eggs then into larvae and eventually become a flying adult dragonfly. Here we summarize for you, the uniqueness of the dragonflies that need to be known.

Dragonflies lay their eggs on plants in the water. There are types who like the puddle, but some are happy to put their eggs in the water rather swift. After hatching, the larvae of the dragonflies live and thrive in the bottom of the water, undergo metamorphoses into nymphs, and eventually come out of the water as adult dragonflies. Most of the life cycle of a dragonfly is spent in the form of a nymph, beneath the surface of the water, using internal gills to breathe. Seeds and nymphs of dragonflies live as carnivorous animals. Big dragonfly nymphs. After adulthood, dragonflies can only live for a maximum of four months.

Though very beautiful, the dragonfly is actually a carnivorous insect. Since hatching from eggs, they are carnivores who like to eat other animals. At the time of the larvae, they eat plankton, small fish, and other larvae. As their wings begin to develop, the young dragonfly has a special body part that resides on its head that serves as a stick to make it easier to catch small fish. As adults, dragonflies are a natural predator of mosquitoes, allowing a large population of dragonflies to be an effective controller in tackling the spread of mosquitoes at a site.

The front dragonfly wings are longer than the rear wing. This form of wings makes dragonflies can fly very quickly up to 50 km / h and can perform various maneuvers in the air starting from moving sideways, back to down a surface of the object. His expertise in flying is so they are crowned as the fastest insects ever on earth.

Dragonflies are one of the first winged insects that flourished over 300 million years ago. The wingspan of the fossil dragonfly reaches 2 meters. The largest fossil dragonfly ever found on earth has a wingspan of more than 3 meters. Ancient giant dragonfly because of high oxygen levels during the Paleozoic era.

Most of the life of a dragonfly is actually spent at the time of the larvae. The dragonflies themselves live about 3 years, after which they just morphed into winged adult dragonflies. Adult dragonflies can survive only a few weeks to produce new offspring.

We may often see a dragonfly on the surface of the water. Why is that? It turns out on the water surface that dragonflies put eggs that will then hatch into larvae. They are also very conscientious with the area like the water surface so often we encounter 2 dragonflies fighting for his territory.

One of the most interesting things on the dragonfly is the shape of his eyes. These insects have large eyes with thousands of lenses that are like the bees. With big eyes and these sides, the dragonfly can see in all directions. This is what makes us a bit difficult when wanting to catch this unique animal.

This animal is an Odonata insect with more than 5000 different species spread all over the world. In the United States alone there are more than 400 species, the number of species of dragonflies in Indonesia is estimated at more than 700 species.

When flying, dragonflies can not directly reverse direction because they have long wings. They will fly in place, then turn around. When maneuvering, they can flap wings 30 times per minute. Some types of dragonflies are also migrating. One is Anax junius (green darner) from New Jersey with an average migration capability of 7.5 km per day.

Dragonflies will starve, if they can not fly, because they catch their prey only when flying. They are very efficient in preying and controlling mosquito populations. Dragonflies can eat 30 to hundreds of mosquitoes per day. Dragonflies will catch the prey by using its legs. The prey head is the first part eaten by a dragonfly.

Thanks to your visit, Hehehe, yes, I was also hit by dragonflies, and I know how it feels, but in my opinion, not the dragonflies hit me, but I hit the dragonfly, therefore we need Patience and greetings
