Lokii's life: Little Red Fox
Smokers where I work are generally shunned. A few years ago, due to a change in the health insurance, all employees that smoke were forced to leave the property when smoking on break. The location we were allowed to go changed many times over the years and has settled to behind the pole barn on the edge of the property.
Regardless of the wasted time it takes to walk to the location I kind of enjoy it. There is a small section of woods on one side of you while back there, maybe an acre in total, and a field in front at the bottom of the hill with a creek running through it. Very peaceful area almost feels like you’re in nature, and a great place to relax while taking a break from work.
Last summer a male and female red fox moved into the little stretch of woods there. Scared off all the skunks that used to surprise us while on breaks, and seems to cut down on the snake population as well. This summer we found out that that they planted some roots, got a little busy (if you know what I mean), and popped out 4 little baby foxes.
Now I first started seeing the baby foxes playing in the field at the edge of the woods in early spring. Little guys at first, and man were they curious. They would wander around the field at all hours of the night. If any of them got too far away from the woods (AKA home) you would hear the mother or father start to bark until they returned. 1 of the 4 children was quite a bit more adventurous than the rest. This little guy/girl would hang out and play within 10 foot of me while I was on break. Provided I was out there alone.
A few months down the road and that adventurous little guy/girl is not so little any more. However, it still likes to hang out and play close to me while on break (now probably within 5 foot). The past couple weeks I have been able to get a few pictures and even a video of my furry friend and thought I would share with you. I hope you enjoy this little red fox as much as I have enjoyed watching it grow
Very fun read4!
I've never seen a fox in person. The animal variety that is ;P

I hear you hang with foxes all the time man, lol. And thank you sir.
LOL
I need a quality fox.
That's pretty cool! Would be something to make friends with it. However, chances are if it gets too friendly with people, it will get itself killed.
I agree, it would be really cool. I've read that red foxes can be quite passionate to humans, but I agree getting too close will result in harm for it. That is why I refuse to give it food or anything. We just hangout randomly on my smoke breaks.
