The indiscriminate hunting has made some species of macaws are in danger of extinction. They belong to the family of parrots, and there are 17 different varieties, eight of which have disappeared or are in danger of extinction.

Its wings are composed of three colors, blue, green and red, while its body is of this last color, except when it is a circle around the eye that is white and without plumage.
