The Cat’s Story 🐈steemCreated with Sketch.

Yesterday there was such a situation: my wife was in a hurry to go to work, she was even late for the bus. And when she was closing the door to one of the inner rooms of the apartment, our cat was trying to get in there. And my wife accidentally pinched his neck with the door. She called me very agitated, almost crying from worry – she was afraid that she had damaged the cat's neck. But nothing tragic happened – the cat shook his head and ran on to play with the ball.

Cat

This case took me back to my distant childhood and I remembered my grandmother's story. She has been gone for a long time and she lived a long and not easy life. I will not go into details about her life, because it is of little interest to anyone and my grandmother is not a famous media person. In the end, I am now writing about the cat.

Territorially – modern Ukraine, the city of Zaporizhzhia. At that time – the Soviet Union (thank God, the former). The end of the 40s of the last century. The Second World War has recently ended. It so happened that after the end of serious hostilities, a certain percentage of firearms remains in the country, which was stolen, found or taken from someone. This factor favorably affected the crime rate in the country. According to my grandmother, at that time thieves climbed into literally any vents, into any windows. Criminals were on the lookout in the entrances of apartment buildings and inconspicuously followed people returning home to the very door of the apartment, and at the very last moment before the door closed, they put their foot in the doorway, thereby preventing the door from closing, and penetrated inside. At night it was dangerous to be on the street – they could rob, kill, or anything else...

My grandmother was a biology teacher at school and sometimes came home late from work. One winter she came home quite late and it was already completely dark outside. After all, in winter it gets dark earlier. In those days, the lighting on the city streets was not the best. She opened the door and went inside. But as soon as she wanted to close it, she could not – some invisible force was holding the door open, 10 centimeters were not enough to close it completely. She was terribly frightened, it was a shock bordering on panic. After a few seconds of trying to close the door, she looked down and saw a cat trying to get inside the house. It was a cat! A cat that was frozen and just wanted to warm up!

That's the story. I now remember this story and I feel a little funny and sorry for the frozen cat. But times were really difficult and you can't blame her for rough handling of animals, it's hard for me to imagine how I would behave in this situation. Even then, in my childhood, I found out that the cat was fine and not injured. I think he died of natural causes and not from injuries.

Take care!
