Wild Horse Mesa 10/29/2018

Hi there Steemians!

I know I go up here a lot, once a week to be exact. It's getting colder up there and I've almost been stuck a couple times during the freezing rain and sleet. So we went up there this day because it was pretty, clear, and dry. We were lucky enough to find our favorite herd we haven't seen in a couple months at least. I was too busy feeding them to get a pic of that herd, but I did get a pic of the one by the lake that we witnessed being captured a few months back and managed to get them released.

Took this one not long after we got up on the Mesa. That's Mount Blanca off in the distance. This was a road we'd never explored.

Here's one I took of the herd by the lake. We buy them alfalfa hay and alfalfa cubes to eat. Some of the horses will eat treats from your hand, but usually only the head Stallions and sometimes the head Mare.

This one I took as we were about a couple miles from my homestead. My DEF light came on in my truck so I decided to take the back way with less miles to travel. This is heading down to the John Dunn Bridge which crosses the Rio Grande.

Finally across the Gorge and up the other side, you can see the bridge below

Finally I have put together a photo collage of the day, put to some guitar improvisation by myself

@jan-mccomas and I have started a gofundme fundraiser to raise money to help feed these horses during the coming winter months. Our plan is to purchase some land up there to store up some hay for the horses and perhaps eventually an off road vehicle to distribute it around their home. It seems like the winter will be harsh this year, so they will need it.
