One day of the many years living in Miami, my husband and I went for a walk around the neighborhood very early in the morning. Suddenly we saw a policeman talking to a lady in front of her house.
When we got closer, the lady of about 60 years old, asked us whether we spoke Spanish, to what we responded affirmatively. Then, she asked us to translate to the agent what she wanted to explain.
The story was that one day, when she was walking her little dog, around the block a couple stopped her and stole her dog. They lived around the corner from her house and she saw which house they went into.
Once we were familiar with the matter in question, the policeman and the lady asked us to continue with them as they were going to proceed to the house to rescue the little dog. We were already interested in the matter and immediately accepted their request. So All of us: The policeman, the lady, my husband and I got into the police car to go to that house
Once in front of the house, the agent told the lady that she had to remain inside the police car and that she could not get out under any circumstance. He then asked us to remain with the lady and to help in keeping her inside the patrol car.
The agent got out of the patrol car and knocked on the door. A couple appeared at the door to speak with the agent. Meanwhile, we remained in the car conversing with the lady.
She spoke to us about her lover who was a policeman working at the airport. She told us that one morning he appeared at her house with a little Maltese dog and gave it to her. She immediately felt in love with it. While the policeman and the couple talked, we saw the little dog coming out of the house into the street, without having been noticed by anyone of them. The lady immediately got out of the car screaming "my little dog" and began running toward the dog, before we could do anything.
At that time, the policeman and the couple realized the dog has gotten out and began running toward dog also. Unfortunately, a curious driver was passing by and was not looking at the road and ran over the little dog with one of the back tires.
at that point, Troy was armed. The couple started insulting the lady, the lady cried with piercing screams and the alleged among them. The driver stops and was very nervous because the accident happened right in front of the police. The Officer asked for his Driver License, examined it and let him go. Then, he told us that the accident was caused because of negligence of the parties involved.
The agent came to the patrol car and told us that the couple was the owner of the little dog and that it had a chip of ownership; that his colleague, the lady's lover, found the dog in the street took it and gave it to her as a gift. He never told her, he had found the dog in the street around the corner.
This was the end of the true story. It happened some time ago in a street of Shore Crest neighborhood in Miami, Florida. The story comprises the following characters: a little Maltese dog, two careless owners, an innocent lady, and a liar policeman and maybe King Solomon's hand? Or could the lie of this policeman has been the cause of this painful drama?
