If South America has a piranha, Africa has a similar fish called Tigerfish. Although coming from a very different species, both are known to be very savage while hunting prey.

Goliath tigerfish (Hydrocynus goliath) or also known as giant tigerfish or mbenga, is the largest member of the tigerfish clan, a genus of predatory cruel fish with its dagger-like teeth. This fish comes from the basin of the Congo River, the Lualaba River, Lake Upemba and Lake Tanganyika in Africa. The largest goliath tigerfish ever recorded has a length of 1.53 meters and weighs 70 kg. And this fish beats other African fish in terms of speed and strength.

A group of tigerfish can catch animals of any size, including land animals that are too close to the river. An adult tigerfish generally hunt in small groups, consisting of 4-5 fish, but quite dangerous. As an illustration, a single tigerfish can catch a prey that has the size of its own body

The Goliath Tigerfish has an olive-colored back and a silvery stomach. But when you see it, what you have in your mind is its mouth with a scary tooth. There are 32 pointed teeth and sharp. In each tooth can grow up to 1 inch in length. This fish teeth grow on the edge of his jaw. This monster is almost without lips. When the teeth are gobbling up their prey, then the piece is almost like a scalpel. That, coupled with his muscular body makes fish a kind of natural killer machine.

Goliath Tigerfish ever recorded attacking humans, though very rare. But he actually attacked and ate his own flock. Although sometimes hunt in groups, but they fall into the category of cannibals. That is, the prey of this fish is his own friend.
