Each time a major mass shooting occurs, there is an influx of politicians and celebrities who take to social media to call for increased gun control measures.

But something like 90% of cops are pro gun rights so it's not contradictory at all, seems like more of a distraction, I don't see what cops lives have to do with gun rights.

You are of course correct that the gun debate is a distraction from the actual causes like psychiatric drugs and Broward police/FBI incompetence/complacence but they are having this discussion and taking away gun rights all over and so having some pushback, especially in the form of marching children is essential. We can't win this debate by staying out of it and we cannot let them win.
