Should I add wikis to all these sites?

in #anarchy4 years ago

I have started working with the Open Source Ecology (OSE) project again, and I am reminded how important wikis are. Everything is done on and through the wiki there. I used to work with SuperNet (now Komodo) and they were very similar. My point is that I get how powerful wikis are and how fitting they may be to my project.

The DiggnDeeper domain is a main site and a bunch of subdomains (sub topics). Currently, I have WordPress installed on all of these sites and that is good because the type of content I want to produce there is more multimedia/ blog and cornerstone type content. WordPress is perfect for my needs. However, the spirit of DiggnDeeper is open and decentralized, so I wonder if I should create a wiki for each subdomain as well.

It will allow for collaboration.

Lets use the education subdomain for example:

The topic of education is education.diggndeeper.com, but I think I might add the wiki like this: education.diggndeeper.com/wiki

This way, each subdomain (or subtopic) will each have their own wiki. The more I think about it, even if I am pretty much the only curator, it may provide a much better way to keep things semantic and relative.

Also, even though SEO is not actually as much of a concern to me as function, it might help.

Will it encourage other people to contribute?

Steem and LBRY would be better solutions.

The reality is that my website is centralized. It is owned by me. That is good because I can make the rules and I would like to think my rules are beneficial to this project, but there isn't any real incentive for collaboration. This is where I think Steem could be a tool to serve up the next generation of wiki - a blockchain wiki.

The Steem platform could allow curation and monetization of edits. The main question I still have is how to serve a front-end that is not centralized. Maybe an ipfs system could be built and payed for by the Steem-Proposal System?

I also wonder if LBRY could be used to host the front end. People CAN host web sites on LBRY. Maybe there is a way to do this?

Clearly I'm just a dreamer and not a developer. It's really easy for me to sit here on my screen and dream up fantasy apps that the blockchain magically solves and not actually have the chops to accomplish anything.

What do you think?

Wiki's definitely could be useful.

I keep seeing references to LBRY - I know @samstonehill is using it for his @survival-archive project. I haven't yet managed to get a working account on it for some reason.

Interesting. I wonder why the trouble. If you are interested, here is the LBRY Discord: https://discord.gg/jAM4aMh

Yeah, I'm pretty confident LBRY would be a great back end to all sorts of applications for distributing content which can be free or for a fee. I'm always rambling on about how I think Steem and LBRY would be the best fit for a lot of applications that curate and serve content.

Thanks for the link to those accounts! Great stuff there. I followed both and posted to the DiggnDeeper community.

I think the LBRY account issue is with my PC - it is old and giving increasing problems.

Just looking at some refurbished ones online that might do a better job at reasonable price.
