This Day in Anarchy (Aug 22)
Each day the world brims with newly written history of the human struggle for freedom. Many historians will examine and evaluate these events through the eyes and ears of tyrants, but here at This Day in Anarchy, we intend to seek out and share the stories that inform and empower our readers, not indoctrinate them.
On this day in anarchy, August 22 activist David Dellinger (1915) and science fiction author Ray Bradbury (1920) were born.
David Dellinger
As a pacifist and advocate for nonviolent revolution, David Dellinger became famous in 1968 for being part of the anti-war group known as the "Chicago Seven". They were arrested at the 1968 Democratic National Convention and charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of inciting a riot.
Ray Bradbury
Famous for his novels Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man and many others, Bradbury remained prolific writer, becoming a full-time writer by the end of 1942.
