unconsciousness = our biology + our life experience. Unconsciousness is perfectly logical but it can't be our guide through life. Life demands making decisions. Unconscious decisions are too often against our interest. They are chracteristic for animals and shouldn't be for thinking beings like humans.
I found it very interesting to listen to the definitions of 'brain-washing' that you both use.
Jonny used the term in a positive way to literally describe washing the brain clean. Jeff used the term in a negative way to describe the effect that government propaganda has upon people.
Could it be, that instead of saying most people are 'brain-washed', it would be better to say they are 'brain-programmed'? The brain-programming is basically identical to how Jeff describes TV programming.
We need to wash our brains from the programming to assist further growth.
