The CEI to the Pope, we invoke the gift of peace

We want to be artisans of peace together with you to deal with the culture of war, hatred, ignorance and prejudice". This is what the presidency of the CEI writes in a message sent to the Pope on the occasion of his 87th birthday "It is difficult to bear the senselessness of the many conflicts that are bloodying entire regions of the planet, causing pain, misery and poverty - we read again in the text - How many people are forced to abandon their homes! How many continue to lose their lives in the Mediterranean! How many still suffer from the illusion of a better future and are instead reduced to slavery! Today, more than ever, the denunciation of evil becomes a concrete commitment to becoming a mother Church, loving and welcoming. We want to give a caress of consolation to the faces marked by suffering, to those who live on the margins, to those who are discarded and not listened to".
The wish for the Pope is to "feel the gratitude of our Churches". "And by acting as spokesperson for all the ecclesial communities in Italy - concludes the presidency of the CEI - we willingly respond to your incessant invitation not to forget to pray for you".
