AMD Threadripper processors will be significantly cheaper than Intel's rivals
AMD announced the launch of its new high-end AMD Threadripper processor series in mid-May. But since then I have not learned much about them, or the price at which they will be sold. That's until recently when the US company released more details on the price, availability and official launch date.
The AMD Threadripper line will come with two top processors. One will cost 700 euros, Ryzen Threadripper 1920X, with 12 real cores and 24 virtual and 3.5 GHz with overclock capability up to 4 Ghz. The other, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X will cost 875 euros and will come with an impressive number of 16 real and 32 virtual cores. It will run at a standard frequency of 3.4 GHz and will also be overclocked to 4.0 Ghz. I do not have to mention that the two Threadripper processors come unlocked.
By comparison, Intel rivals have an even more robust processor. The new i9 Extreme will have 18 real and 36 virtual cores, but it will cost about 1750 euros. What is more than two Threadripper peak range. I am not firmly convinced that an i9 XE would deserve this exorbitant amount. In addition, the two processors in the Threadripper range can be associated with a new line of motherboards that are designed to work in perfect harmony with them. We also add two Radeon video cards to the Vega architecture and we already have ultra-high performance at a relatively decent price.
In addition to the new peak-end processors, AMD has provided more details about its lower-cost versions, such as Ryzen 3. They will compete directly with Intel's i3 range and will be stronger. Their launch will take place on July 27, notes The Verge.
