Amazon Merch Rolls Out New Advertising Program ( Sponsored Listings ) Through Amazon AMS
Hey guys, we have some pretty big news today, people have been speculating about this for a while. Amazon Merch rolled out a new program which allows Merch sellers to run sponsored ads for their shirts through Amazon Marketing Services (AMS)
Now people have been doing this all along through a workaround with Amazon Vendor Express and AMS, however it was kind of a complicated process and many people including myself were never able to get it to work.
Now I've heard mixed things, I"ve heard some people had a lot of success with this and I've heard others said they spent more on ads than they made.
Why this is pretty big news is rather than this being a not that well known workaround, Amazon is actually making an advertising program specifically for Merch sellers so I think were going to see the number of people running sponsored ads really spike which theoretically will make ads cost more.
This like most things with Amazon is being rolled out on a rolling basis. I was quite surprised I was admitted into this program in the first wave, I got my code today. I also saw The Thrift Shop Hustler and Merch Unversity also got in. It feel like this is a pretty wide rollout, by that I mean I think more people probably got this right away than Pop Sockets and the reason for that is this is a money maker for Amazon, this is going to make Amazon more money.
My personal thoughts on this. I'm going to try it out initially to see if it works. If I can pay a few bucks but make more sales and earn the ad money plus some back then awesome. More than likely I think this is going to be a break even or even a losing proposition. My plan is to try to do it early on before everyone else gets to it, make some sales while ads are still cheap, hopefully give myself a boost organically with those sales and then drop out and stop paying for ads once everyone starts flooding in.
What's your take on this?
