Amazon Echo Look Now Available Without an Invitation | News & Opinion
Echo Look features a depth-sensing camera and built-in LED lighting; just stand back and say 'Alexa, take a photo' to capture your outfit of the day with just your voice.
Heads up, fashion lovers: Amazon's $200 hands-free camera and style assistant Echo Look is now available to everyone in the US who wants one.
Previously, only those with an invitation could order the fashion-focused Echo Device. Unveiled in April 2017, the Alexa-powered camera is designed to sit on your dresser to take photos and videos of your outfits, help you share them to social media, and even give fashion suggestions.
It features a depth-sensing camera and built-in LED lighting; just stand back and say "Alexa, take a photo" to capture your outfit of the day with just your voice. Echo Look uses computer vision technology to blur the background of your shot and "make your outfits pop," Amazon said.
Deciding between two outfits for a big night out? A feature called Style Check lets you submit two photos and get a recommendation of which outfit to go with. The device uses a combination of machine learning algorithms and advice from human stylists to make its decision, taking into account the fit, color, and styling of your outfits, as well as current trends. If you're not sure how to style a particular piece, Echo Look can suggest items you can buy on Amazon.com that will go well with it.
Another feature called Daily Look will create a lookbook of your styles, so you can browse them later when you're in need of some inspiration. You can also organize your looks into Collections like "Fall" or "Girl's Night" and share them with friends.
The Look isn't just a fashion guru: like other Alexa devices, it can tap the full power of the thousands of Alexa "skills" to do everything from order a Starbucks latte to check the traffic on your commute, all via voice commands.
