A look back at GokuReborn ahead of the Re-branding.

in #altcoin7 years ago (edited)

With the re-brand of GokuCoinReborn fast approaching I found myself reflecting on what got me interested in this project to begin with.

I first heard about the GokuCoin Reborn project from a POS_Monkey review. At the time I was looking for a Proof Of Stake coin that I could write a review on with the idea of focusing more on the technical aspects.

One of the first places I wanted to look was the github , available via the Coins Announcement thread on bitcoin garden. Github is a web based platform that lets people share and edit open source code and this website is widely used within the cryptocurrency community.

Upon looking into the GokuCoinReborn Github, I was pleased to see Bumbacoin, a veteran developer with an impressive history of repositories (entries) dating back to 2014. This year he has divided his energy across a range of coins, although I was unaware of his affiliation to these coins. Many of the projects he has worked on are all based on the same x11 mining algo so I felt like he would bring some real expertise to Goku coin. A further look on this projects discord server(GokucoinReborn late Aug) showed he had been actively answering some wallet questions, further reinforcing my belief that he was either working on this project or acting in an advisory position.

I traced back the code and was happy to see it originated with bitcoin.
GokuCoinReborn was a fork off of Bumbacoin which was a fork off of Bitcoin.

I checked Bumbacoin on coinmarketcap.com and was pleasantly surprised it was still going, indicating that you can have a PoS system that didn't fall due to inflation.

Looking over the announcement thread gave me an idea into where they were headed which seemed to be centered around retail merchants and game payment integration. A further dig through the discord news section led me to a xbt freelancer page, a site for freelance work such as programming. Additional information I was able to look over in the news section allude me to the main developer, Gokudev.

Looking through their news I could see that over the week (sept 23 - 27) he had, through the help of his team:
Re-modified wallets (bug fixes),
Paid for a game to be developed.
Took on a merchant and integrated the Goku Payment. http://www.dbzenhosting.com/ .
Did a token burn
Paid for e
put money towards a children's charity

At the time (27 sept) I was able to pay 0.0584 Btc for 19,500 Goku. Here are my returns:From the 27/09 to the 06/10.

I ran the wallet on my own Pc and kept it going for 24 hours.
The 19,500 took 6 hours to mature in my wallet and 2 days later I received 795 Goku.
This then gave me 20,295 Goku, Split into different stacks of coin, I used coin control to bring them into 1 input (coin control guide: http://pos-monkey.com/what-is-coin-control/)
That 20,295 then gave me a stake 3 days later of 1,778 Goku.
The next day I got a stake of 325 goku.
2 days later I would then receive a 1000 Goku stake split over 2 stakes received in one day.
Between Sep 27th and Oct 5th (about 1 week) the 19,500 Goku compounded paid me back 3,790 Goku.

Whether or not it is the nature of early adopters or pos groups, the discord for gokureborn appeared to me to be filled with curious and knowledgeable individuals with a willingness to share and learn. Frequently non team members would help answer general pos questions to more technical wallet help. This became increasingly important as the project started to get media attention with some youtubers (such as the bit brothers). Considering the wallets were simple to use, it was easy for the community to help out in this way.

With a re-brand in the works (15/16 Oct), Super-blocks coming an active development team and community. Does this look set to be another player in your pos collection?

This is not financial advice
