[:nl]Herinner je je mijn blog over onze denkbeeldige hond? Ik had dat artikel gedeeld in een Facebook groep voor Vizsla baasjes en kreeg ontzettend veel reacties. Voordien was ik weken bezig geweest met het zoeken van een beschikbare pup (vrijwel onmogelijk, lange wachtlijsten) en nu plots kreeg ik een berichtje van een lieve mevrouw, waardoor alles in een stroomversnelling raakte. Wat was het moeilijk om de afgelopen maand te zwijgen...
De lieve mevrouw liet me weten dat ze uit een gelegenheidsnestje van 9 pups nog eentje beschikbaar had, een reutje. Exact wat we zochten. Ze stuurde deze foto door.
Aaaaaah!!!!!
Na wat heen en weer gechat, bleek dat de pups einde juli het nest mochten verlaten. En laat onze Little Miss Lazy Bird nu toch net jarig zijn op 31 juli... Meant to be?
We maakten een afspraak om de pups te gaan bekijken ter plaatse. Top secret uiteraard. Tot nu wist eigenlijk niemand iets van ons plan. Ik was vooral bang dat ik het helemaal niets ging vinden, zo'n hondje. Dat het een teleurstelling zou zijn.
Maar kijk... We waren meteen verkocht. Ester vertelde ons volop over dit geweldige ras, over haar eigen hond Lola (de mama van de pups) en ze beantwoordde al onze vragen. De Vizsla is een hond die veel beweging nodig heeft (dat wisten we uiteraard, we hadden ons goed ingelezen en geïnformeerd), ze was dan ook erg blij dat we een grote tuin hebben en veel tijd.
Dat was op 11 juli. Sindsdien kregen we heel veel foto updates om onze Luís mooi te zien evolueren. Sommige foto's waren redelijk verontrustend, zoals deze waarop hij vrolijk een paar schoenen opeet...

Dit is er dan weer eentje waarvan Mr Lazy Bird en ik helemaal smolten.
Lief he?? Dat was op woensdag 25/7, toen was ie 7 weken. Wij waren die dag 4 jaar getrouwd en hebben ervan geprofiteerd om wat aan puppy shopping te doen terwijl Little Miss Lazy Bird met vriendinnetjes naar Bobbejaanland was.
En dat is nog maar een deel van de buit... De complimenten trouwens aan MaxiZoo in Wommelgem, waar we heel fijn verder geholpen zijn, top service!
We hebben die dag ook nog andere huwelijksjubileumdingen gedaan hoor, no worries.
Maar dat shoppen voor Luís was toch wel heel leuk, vooral omdat het allemaal zo stiekem was.
En toen was het grote moment aangebroken. Little Miss Lazybird vertrok de dag van haar verjaardag 's ochtends naar de Efteling.
Zo hadden wij de handen vrij om onze nieuwe huisgenoot op te pikken. De dagen voordien had mijn man trouwens hard gewerkt om de tuin volledig omheind te krijgen, zonder dat iemand van de kinderen door had wat er stond te gebeuren. Sterk werk! Toen we Luìs oppikten, moesten we eerst nog even langs de dierenarts voor een prik. Die heeft ie prima doorstaan, en dan gingen we op weg.
De reactie van de Little Miss was helemaal wat we gehoopt hadden. Ze was zo blij met de pup dat ze ervan moest huilen, zo mooi!
Deze foto maakte mijn man die eerste dag met zijn camera, wat een plaatje he?
Ondertussen zijn we een weekje verder. Ik zal je ons relaas van slapeloze nachten etc besparen, maar weet dat ik erg dankbaar ben dat ik overdag nergens heen moet en gewoon wat kan chillen in de tuin. Want het is wat hoor, zo'n hondje. Of wacht, ik geef je toch een paar wapenfeitjes:
- de eerste nacht plaste hij in de bench, recht op het nestdoekje. Dat is een lapje stof dat mee in het nest lag en dus naar mama en de broertjes en zusjes ruikt. Of naar pipi dus.
- hij ging vanaf het eerste moment recht op het eten van de poes af. Die moet nu dus echt komen vragen of ze haar etensbakje even mag hebben, want het staat buiten bereik.
- na de kattenbrokjes bleken ook de kattendrolletjes een echte delicatesse. Ugh.
- Na ons 4 nachten wakker gehouden te hebben in de bench naast ons bed, verhuisde hij naar de woonkamer. Dat liep niet zo gesmeerd. Uiteindelijk heeft Mr Lazy Bird 3 nachten op de zetel doorgebracht. Met Luis in vol ornaat NAAST de bench. Want erin, ho maar!
Hij voelt zich in ieder geval al helemaal in zijn nopjes hier. Kijk vooral hoe hij hier letterlijk 'hangt' in de hangmat.

Bij deze mijn excuses alvast. Het zou wel eens kunnen dat je de komende tijd wat puppy spam van me zal krijgen....

BewarenBewaren[:en]Do you remember my blog about our imaginary dog? I had shared that article in a Facebook group for Vizsla owners and got a lot of reactions. Previously I had spent weeks looking for an available puppy (almost impossible, long waiting lists) and now suddenly I got a message from a dear lady, which caused everything to take off in rapid succession. How difficult it was to remain silent over the past month ...
The dear lady let me know that she had one more available pup from an occasional nest of 9, a male. Exactly what we were looking for. She forwarded this picture.

After some chat messaging, it appeared that the puppies were allowed to leave the nest at the end of July. And let our Little Miss Lazy Bird just have a birthday on July 31 ... Meant to be?
We made an appointment to see the puppies. Top secret of course. Until now, nobody really knew anything about our plan. I was particularly worried that I was not going to like it at all, a dog. That it would be a disappointment.
But look ... We were immediately sold. Ester told us a lot about this amazing breed, about her own dog Lola (the mum of the puppies) and she answered all our questions. The Vizsla is a dog that needs a lot of exercise (of course we knew that, we had read in and informed), she was very happy that we have a large garden and a lot of time.
That was on July 11. Since then we have received many photo updates to see our Luís evolve beautifully. Some photos were pretty disturbing, like the one on which he happily eats a pair of shoes ...

This is another one that made Mr Lazy Bird and I melt completely.
Isn't that sweet? That was on Wednesday 25/7, when he was 7 weeks. We were married that day for 4 years and did some puppy shopping while Little Miss Lazy Bird was with her girlfriends in Bobbejaanland.
And that is only a part of the loot ... My compliments to MaxiZoo in Wommelgem, where we were very well helped, top service!
We also did other wedding anniversary things that day, no worries.
But the shopping for Luís was very nice, especially because it was all so secret.
And then the big moment had arrived. Little Miss Lazy Bird left the day of her birthday in the morning to the Efteling.
So we had our hands free to pick up our new family member. The days before my husband had worked hard to get the garden completely fenced, without anyone of the children having a clue what was about to happen. Good work! When we picked up Luìs, we first had to go to the vet for a shot. He passed that well, and then we went on our way.
The reaction of the Little Miss was completely what we had hoped for. She was so happy with the puppy that she had to cry, so beautiful!

Meanwhile, we are a week further. I will save you our tale of sleepless nights etc, but I know that I am very grateful that during the day I do not have to go anywhere and just chill in the garden. Because it is quite something, having a dog. Or wait, I'll give you a few feats:
the first night he pissed in the bench, right on the nesting cloth. That is a piece of fabric that was in the nest and therefore smells like mom and the brothers and sisters. Or like pipi.
he went straight from the beginning to eating the cat's food. So now she really needs to ask if she can have her food bowl, because it is out of reach.
After the cat food, the cat turds turned out to be a real delicacy. Ugh.
After having kept us awake for 4 nights in the bench next to our bed, we moved him to the living room. That did not go so smooth. In the end Mr Lazy Bird spent 3 nights on the sofa. With Luis in full suit NEXT to the bench. Because in there, no way josé!
So we still have some work to do. On Thursday he goes to the first lesson with the dog coach and we are very exited. For the time being he already knows 'sit', 'bench' and 'stay' a little bit. And walking on the line he is doing fine!
He feels at least in his own way here. Watch how he literally 'hangs' here in the hammock.
