Where are you reading this book? Are you able to concentrate without disturbance?
•Are you comfortable? Have you enough space to work in?
•Do you have all the equipment you need close at hand?
•Do you have space to keep books and files?
Do your answers to these questions suggest that you should make changes to your study environment?
Study at the kitchen table, with other people milling around and the TV on, the odds are stacked against you. To study you need to be able to concentrate intently. If you can set up a regular study area it helps get you into the habit of switching off from everything else. You may prefer different places for different places for different activities - for reading, for jotting notes, for writing assignments. For some activities you need a surface on which to spread books and papers. For some you need access to a computer. You also need storage space and easy access to your files, and you need adequate light and heat. You may not be able to set up the ideal study environment, but it is important to get as close as you can. Concentrate on study is hard enough, without struggling against your surroundings. Good study scene encourage a nice learning habit.
