My experience on blacking out (drunk) and why it is dangerous

in #alcohol7 years ago (edited)

I believe everyone had tried drinking before, drinking alcohol I mean. And we've experienced different levels of drunkenness, be it tipsy or crazy drunk.

However, there is this one type of drunk that we are better off, blackout drunk.

So, what is "blackout drunk" anyway, some of you might ask? It is a kind of drunk when you wake up and don't remember whatever you had done the night before, when the alcohol really kicks into your blood stream and up your brain.

It was last Sunday, my classmates and I (11 of us) were having a gathering in an airbnb in the outskirts of Seremban, one of the major cities in Malaysia. We were playing the game "Ring of Fire" and "Bang the Bus". The drinks we were drinking was no regular beer, but a mixture of various juice, energy drinks, and strong liquor like Gray Goose and Chivas 12. It was good, to be honest. The sweetness of the juice and the high sugar content of Redbull completely covered the disgusting alcohol rub taste of the Chivas 12. We call this drink the jungle juice.

But it was not the jungle juice that made us drunk, after the game and a cigarette break with my friend, we hit back to the fridge and took out a few more bottles of beer and continue drinking. We even made ourselves a few shots of vodka and continued playing "bang the bus". We were high and I got to the point where I slammed my cards on the table and broke a shot glass.

And I woke up in the morning, top naked on the floor. I asked my pal, why the hell was I sleeping downstairs when I paid so much for the airbnb?! He told me what happened last night, but I couldn't recall any shit. And at that point I knew, I experienced a blackout.

I slept in the toilet, wrestled with two of my boys, vomited, smoked 2 cigarettes at once and went all naked lying on the floor. All these embarrassing acts, but I couldn't remember them.

This is why blacking out is actually dangerous. You are still subconscious, able to reply to people, but you simply cannot control yourself because you ain't your true self. People actually died being blacked out, not directly of alcohol poisoning, but getting themselves into trouble, hurting themselves and even committed suicide.

After this experience, I realized it's not fun being blackout drunk, tipsy is great, but not being unable to remember anything. Who wants to make love drunk, but wake up the next morning unable to remember the thrill last night?

Reminder to self: not to over drink next time
