Medical check ups -Regular or Irregular?
Hi steemians
Health of a nation is key to economic and social development. It is known that it is almost impossible for an unhealthy person to participate in national and personal growth , then why do we take our health for granted?
Over the years it has become obvious to me that most Nigerians don't go for regular check ups....this became glaring to me once I started practicing what I learnt in classes in the hospital as a student doctor, I noticed that the number of patients on admission increased daily and most of the patients on admission could have easily not admitted if those patients just visited the hospital for check up regularly,,,,, and it isn't the elderly ones and children that need regular check up, even the middle age grade also do, Nobody is saying you have to go to the hospital everyday, but atleast once in 3 months take yourself to the hospital for check up, besides there are routine checks that can be done from the comfort of your own home eg (blood pressure n blood glucose check ups)....
From my observations.. I have mapped out the following reasons why most people don't like going for check up....
- Financial strains
- False belief and ignorance
- Self diagnosis and medication
- Poor government health policies
- Procastination
Regular check up is important for general well-being, it helps in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of any illness.
Try booking an appointment today, you surely won't regret.
