If you think good health takes a long time to achieve, maybe it's because you've never read this. Actually we can do simple things with a time of 60 seconds or less, but a big impact for health.


"Healthy is basically the set of choices we make every day doing something useful is more important than nothing, every little thing counts," says the integrative physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Aditi Nerurkar.

Simple habits such as smiles to improve mood, standing with good posture, or washing hands, we can actually do to live healthier. As an inspiration, here are other healthy habits that we need to start :

  • Leave shoes at the door
    One of the ancient Japanese custom of putting shoes at the front door of the house turned out to have a modern sensibility. This ritual becomes a form of homage to the sanctity of a practical and fast home. This can also be the way you keep your home clean and free from pollutants outside the house while pacing in the room.

    This habit can prevent all the bad things, ranging from dirt and rocks to chemicals, as well as potential allergens to enter the house. In addition, you will also feel you have left stress after work and marked that you have gone home.

  • Cleaning the tongue
    Clean and healthy teeth are produced from the habit of brushing teeth properly and regularly. However, rubbing the tongue is another important way to keep your mouth clean.

    The back of the tongue is a gathering place of bacteria and other germs that cause bad breath. After cleaning the teeth, gently rub the tongue from tip to base.     When you do not have a tissue or handkerchief to cover your nose and mouth, the best way to cough or sneeze is in the curve of the elbow or upper arm.

    The point is to avoid the use of hands, which may not be clean enough and can spread the germs around it. Closing it also prevents droplets of germs spread in the air, which can certainly settle on certain surfaces and contagious to others.

  • Add something to drinking water
    If drinking water looks boring, try adding a few lemon, lime, or orange slices in it. You can also add a splash of color and flavor from strawberries or a little raspberries. Want more than that? Add mint leaves, kiwi pieces or cucumber in your drink. The refreshing mixture can enhance the flavor and better the effect than the sugary beverage that actually leaves you dehydrated.

  • Rest your eyes
    Many workers and students spend hours staring at a computer screen, coupled with a combination of glare, incorrect posture, and poor lighting can trigger eye strain and headaches. The condition is known as 'computer eye syndrome', which usually subside after completion of the computer. To protect the eyes from the screen, set a routine time to take a break. Eye health experts recommend the '20 -20-20 'rule. The point is every 20 minutes staring at the computer screen, keep your eyes off the screen for 20 seconds by staring at something 20 feet (about 6 meters) away.

    Providing rest time for the eyes can make it focus on other things, as well as reduce fatigue. It would be better if you stand up, then lift and stretch your hand. "Stretching can smooth the flow of blood and refresh the body and mind," he explained.

  • Wear sunscreen
    A study suggests that daily use of sunscreen has two purposes: protecting the skin from visible signs of aging and reducing the risk of skin cancer.

  • Count to 10 or more when angry
    If you want to muffle the emotions that accumulate in the head, count the numbers up to 10 and take a slow breath in each number. Counting can divert the mind, which keeps you away from emotions that come from a person or situation. Still angry? Keep counting and breathing deeply until you feel calmer, more manageable, and less reactive.

Taking a deep breath and slowly helps activate the nervous system from the sympathetic 'fight or flight' system response phase to the 'rest and digest' parasympathetic system response. It will make you feel softer and relaxed.
