Hopefully, polio is on the brink of extinction! It's been eradicated in numerous western countries, and we are close to achieving it in Nigeria. Big thanks to the "big names" you mentioned and to the Rotaract club of Nigeria for spreading awareness and vaccinating children on a massive scale.

The major problem we still have is illiteracy and cultural barriers especially parents not wanting their children to be vaccinated. A more recent one happened in Rivers state.

I believe polio would be a thing of the past, soon. Till then let's not only celebrate but try in our own little way to create awareness to end the disease.
