This is my cobtribution on the Dangers of Drug Abuse; A Youth Destiny Killer.

From my own view, you cannot directly blame this on their peers, society or parental home training because youths tend to try new things everyday and take risk as this results in taking of hard drugs, alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes, marijuana, household chemical inhalants because they believe it makes them more grown up, it is exciting, they like the way it makes them feel and they want to fit in with friends and certain peer group.

Some try these substances and probably stop while some become addicted and can't control the urges or craving for more which results in social problems such as fighting and lack of participation in youth activities, legal problems such as arrest for driving or hurting someone while drunk, physical problems such as hangovers or illnesses, disruption of normal growth and sexual development, changes in brain development that may have life long effects, some even die from alcohol poisoning.

In general, the society, peers, parental home bringing has a vital role to play in a youths life.
In the society, underage drinking will require community based effort to monitor the activities of youth and decrease youth access to alcohol and other illicit drugs. Recent publications by a surgeon and the institute of medicine outlined many prevention strategies for the prevention of underage drinking. The should be such enforcement that covers the minimum legal drinking age laws, national media campaigns targeting youths and adults. increasing alcohol excise taxes, advertising of alcohol and development of comprehensive community based program should be enforced and carried out in the society in so doing, the society would help reduce the consumption of alcohol by the youth.

In the aspect of peers, youths tend to do a lot of things because of the influence of peer groups and the kind of company he or she keeps but if a youth associates with friends who avoids cigarettes, alcohol and drugs it would be the best protection from alcohol and drug abuse.

In the parental home bringing, if a mother or father should notice an usual behavior from his or her child, the person is in position to talk openly with him or her on the problems and danger associated with taking of those harmful substances. By advising them at an early age about the dangers attributed to taking drugs and other dangerous substances on the body, talk to them with illustrations on the danger of smoking marijuana and other cigarettes

By engaging them with meaningful activities such as sports, church programs. Set out household rules and reasonable consequences for behavior that needs to change and consistently carry out the consequences. Praise your child for every little good thing he/her does well and most importantly know your child's friends.
By doing all these, we would be able to grow our teen into youth with high self esteem and in so doing they will be save again.
