Embarking on a New Chapter in My Life - Developing Artificial Intelligence!

Today I have decided to turn my life around and start working on some big plans that I have been thinking about for many years. Ever since I was young I have been dreaming about artificial intelligence. I have read all the novels by Isaac Asimov and I was fascinated by the robots described in them. For a long time, this was just science fiction to me. Being a rational person I decided to take the safe route and not follow my dreams because they would probably not lead to a stable income. Back in the day when I started studying people would have told me that artificial intelligence does not resemble anything that what I would have read in science fiction novels. The methods used in the AI world work very into engineering oriented. Things have changed slightly from back then. First of all, some new technologies have been developed such as deep learning. While this still follows the engineering type pattern of matching inputs to desired outputs the method shows a lot of potential for fast learning. This led me to revise the opinion that has been hammered into me. Current AI technology still does not provide any means of creating a strong artificial intelligence. But I think with some research and a few original ideas one could achieve this goal in the future.

I am now stuck in a relatively safe job but I am feeling that I could have pursued other goals. I find myself writing lots of different programs for other people. I really want to start doing some serious work in the AI field. There is of course only one problem. I can't just leave my job. I have financial obligations. Money seems to be always tight and I have the feeling that there is always more money going out than coming in. This is why I have devised a plan how I could achieve such a goal.

I will start developing small applications, maybe some mobile games, to make the money that is needed to embark on my journey. I will start by working on this in the little spare time that I have. I will take you with me on this quest. I will provide regular updates on what I am working on. I will also write about any thoughts I am having that might spark the discussion about artificial intelligence and the advantages but also possible dangers of this technology.

Along the way, I will be learning lots of new stuff. And when I find the time I might be writing tutorials about anything that I have learnt and I find interesting.

I hope that by sharing my ideas and letting you participate in the project in this way I can raise enough money to spend more and more time on my real ambitions and finally make strong AI a reality.
