It is like saying that a calculator should not be used just because it makes it easy to calculate faster.
In my opinion, students should be allowed to use chatgpt but there should be tools to detect if the content is produced using AI for educational assignments.
Students should have the freedom to learn from anywhere they want to learn from.
I agree to your logic! Definitely students should have the freedom to learn from any source. However, a certain time should be given to develop their basic skills to perform a given task by their own. Just like we memorize the multiplication tables, and learn to calculate without using a calculator as a child.
It would be nice if we have a tool to detect whether the content is produced by an AI or not, and our debate will stop at the very point. But, I don't see that coming very soon for textual contents produced by an NLP.
