Potential of Agriculture in PNG
Our country has the potential to be self-suffient 💯 'food self-sufficiency' refers to a country's capacity to meet its own food needs from domestic production (FAO).
In PNG, lack of access to markets and post-harvest loss is the main cause of fresh produce loss. 💚💯
PNG farmers can feed the nation if only our policy makers set their priorities right by investing in Agriculture through infrustractures such as roads, subsidizing transport cost or improve transport system (by use of cooler containers).
P.S. We don't need foreigners to come and farm our land. Agriculture began in PNG 10,000 years ago so tis only fitting if we improve our agriculture sector and start exporting.
Yes, agriculture is not only sustainable but equitable. PNG's biggest policy mistake since Independence has been to rely on the extractive industry, thereby promoting inequality in the distribution of wealth.
