Ageism is when you treat someone or a group of person differently from others based on assumptions or stereotypes relating to their age. In our society today, a lot of ladies have rushed into making terrible marital choices because of ageism. In their bid to get married before 30 or before menopause, they end up getting involved with men they are not cool with Which may eventually complicate their lives and every other aspects of their lives.

Society have made it seem like getting married ‘late’ means something is wrong with you. Getting married ‘early’ or ‘late’ isn’t really a factor to having a fulfilled life. Some ladies have become bitter and feel bad about themselves because they feel they have failed for not being able to get married before the societal time line hit off. Some have become too bitter that they begin to see and treat the society as their enemy and men as their arc enemy. Ageism seem to be more fierce on women than on men, although men too also receive their fair share if pressure from the society.

He’s 30, he doesn’t have much achievement, he doesn’t have a huge house or a flashy car or owns a business, etc. He’s 40, he’s not yet married even when he’s got a good job. A lot of people do not take time to consider every possible aspect of a particular choice before making the decision, most often than not, it is because they think they do not have time on their side. Their ‘time bound’ consciousness has made a lot of folks to bite more than they can chew, and eventually end up choking themselves.

Ageism is one factor of pressure. It’s part of the ‘get rich quick’ syndrome. Sometimes, you’ll see a lady that have not worked a dime in her life, trying to live lavishly like a woman who has worked for over 40 years of her life. Many dudes are dying so hard to acquire wealth like Dangote and Otedola, forgetting that those men didn’t make their wealth in one day. They built and grew, they took one step at a time and they’re still building and growing at THEIR OWN PACE. Bisi got married before Chinwe doesn’t mean Bisi isn’t enjoying her life.

In conclusion, people are sinking deep into depression because of ageism. Move at your own pace!, be determine and strive hard positively towards your doings and remember that there is time for everything under the sun.
