There once walked the Cat...
I wonder where in the world I would find the time to write about all that I think of daily if not here.
Today is about the Cat and the many notions humans have towards this great animal.
throughout the ages, from one culture to another, the cat has always been associated with femininity.
Some believe that beetwen the snake in the garden of Eden and woman (eve) there has been a dubious connection with the cat as a worthy defendant of Lucifer, the angel of light whose pride led to his fall.
Because of these evil connections, the poor cat has undergone many trials and tribulations in the western world.
Felis catus was sanctified, deified and embalmed in the Egypt of the Pharaohs, considered protector of home and childhood in the Gallo-Roman era; then in the middle ages condemned to be burned at the stake, ritually sacrificed and tortured!
this sad state of affairs persisted in certain places until the early nineteenth century, but this could not stop the irresistible ascension of Master Cat: rat killer extraordinaire....
the brief overview of the adventures of the cat in the western world demonstrates the ambivalence of human feelings towards an animal which retains a certain mystery- as mankind generally mistrusts what it does not understand, we associate this mystery with black magic.
... What completeness, what absolute egotism, its full potential ever imminent. this creature leaves me dreaming of a vast empire guarded by a league of voracious looking cute cats
in the view of Africa , cats are kept to crush rats
