War:The basic Theories

War is a social and a political issue.It is difficult to actually arrive at a generally acceptable definition as war has many meanings.War is an enterprise which people are willing to engage in.War has rules and regulations for men to abide by and there are three basic theories of war:Pacifism,Activism and Selectivism.
Pacifism refers to the belief that it is never right to participate in any war to the point of taking the lives of others.Activism holds that one ought to participate in all wars.Selectivism the third theory holds that some wars are justifiable and some are not,in other words the synthesis of activism and pacifism.
In conclusion,it is evident to note that(a just) peace is always desirable and war may be a legitimate way to secure it,to reduce injustice.War is only a neccesity hence peace at all cost may not be desirable.
