You Don't Have To Leave Africa To Be Successful!!

Many of us Africans have a mentality that we have to leave for greener pastures to be rich and successful which is not so. I’m sure you must have heard this statement a lo t of times, be sure I wont bore you with unnecessary words because I’ll be taking this in a different dimension.

I’m sure by the end of this post, a lot of things are going to change in your mentality such as: How you view you country here in Africa. How much you believe the whites are more intelligent than we are. How America not necessary the dream land. How you comport yourself.

I can tell you that America is not a perfect place containing a set of perfect individuals; among them are great scientist, witty politicians and engaging artists, but among them are also illiterates, fools, thugs, haters of knowledge and all sort of things that you accustomed with negativity.

You won’t deny the fact that we Africans have great people; witty politicians, great musicians, wonderful artists, computer geeks, impressive doctors as all sort of occupation even down to a shoe maker have people in it that can make you wish you do those job. Why? Because of their knowledge in the skill, their ability to improvise and their enthusiasm towards what they do.

I’ve seen great teachers here in y school that can teach a dog to forsake its diner and study. I’ve encountered artists here in Nigeria that can make you forget your sorrow. I’ve met doctors in Luth, Uth and Oouth that have a broad knowledge f what they do and can help you feel loved making you recover quickly. I’ve seen the greatness in nations such as Kenya, Ghana, South-Africa and Egypt. I wish to visit every African country someday because of the richness of culture.

Africa has such great people such as Aliko dangote of Nigeria (one of the richest men in the world), Barack Obama of , Nelson Mandella of South-Africa and of Freedom, Kwame Nkuruma of Ghana, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Martin Luther King, Wole Soyinka, Kofi Annan, Rosa Parks, Yoweri Museveni etc

So what now makes it look like we are inferior and that we can’t be successful here in Africa.  The simple answer can be found within the concept of Branding. I’d advice you watch this video carefully from the beginning to the end, though I’ll make a brief explanation below.

In this video, Akon tells us the difference between we and people / nations we think are more successful and intelligent in comparison to us is Branding. Making things appear more pleasant, magnifying its positive parts, making things appear superior, making it feel like everyone is doing it, everyone likes it, want to go there etc.

America just like every single African country has a fair share of wise and intelligent people, so also do we have illiterates. But the media makes us believe Africa is made up of fools, Africans, are illiterate, Africans are smelly, black and disgusting, Africa is a Zoo, Africa can’t take care of its sick. Etc

The media has painted us bad. Reputation really matters, even here on steemit. Business men understand this concept and sell us product that are of less value, even in the sight of a better product, we choose the less valued product with better presentation and packaging.

We need the media, movie industry, politicians to do something to magnify our strengths, Our African languages are not language of the illiterate, let’s speak it with pride. It hurt me when intelligence is judged by language you speak, that’s what we’ve been made to believe (that speaking English is associated with the wise and educated white men). What are they? They are simply means of communication, just that it is accustomed with the successful. We should be proud of our skin colour and attire (we know black skin is more privilege to the white skin, stop patronizing bleaching creams to be white like them). We need re-orientation.

African are taking the bull by the horn, we have our African Artist like Davido, Wizkid, Jose Chameleone, Banky W, Oumou Sangare, Salif Keita, Youssou N’dour, Tu Face, Onyeka Onwenu, Angelique Kidjo, Khaled of Algeria, Awilo Longomba, Fela Kuti, Fally Ipupa, Manu Dibango, Koffi Olomide etc and Politicians and Scientists.

Now back to the issue of being successful…. We have numerous people become successful here in Africa without leaving Africa. Being successful most times has less to do with your location. Just time those countries have a good reputation which amplifies your success but that doesn’t mean you are truly more successful than those in Africa. No one finds it easy over there too, they have to work their ass out to success like they would here, only some with special and great abilities find it easier. Even the people with wonderful abilities find it easier here too but not all with great abilities will be successful even over there.

Finally, use this branding in all that you do, people judge books by the cover because you have to dig deep know its content; there is no time for that. Brand your behavior and how you present yourself to people and you’ll defiantly find the success you’ve been seeking.

Please, do not forget to Upvote and Re-steem so someone else can learn from this. I’d really appreciate this as this my own little way of contributing to Africa and the Steemit community. Do not forget also to follow me @damzxyno…..
