Etihad Stadium (Melbourne 2017)
Last year I took my younger brother on his first flight to Melbourne to watch the Collingwood vs Crows game at the MCG. We decided to make a weekend out of it and saw 3 games - Hawthorn vs Sydney at the G, Carlton vs Geelong at Etihad and finally the Crows. I'll be sure to post some content from the games at the G in the coming days.
I took this picture on 29/07/17 at Etihad Stadium (also known as Docklands) as the Blues took on the Cats. To be honest it was a pretty boring one sided game and there was just no atmosphere. A lot of people in Melbourne hate this stadium compared to the MCG and it does feel like it has no soul. If for some reason you want to check out the highlights of this game you can here.
I reckon a game with 50k+ would sound crazy with the closed roof but I'm not sure we will ever see a game like the classic Saints vs Cats in 2009 again. For anyone curious both teams were undefeated by round 14 and 54k fans got to see one of the best home and away games of all time.
You can view the last 5 minutes of the game here:
It's a shame Taylor got knocked out (for obvious reasons) but also the delay felt like it killed the atmosphere a bit.
Did you just assume my gender?
