A rare event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (2017)

A holy place for all AFL fans. This is the home of football, this is where the big dance is played and it's just an awesome place to go to. The first time you walk in it's like heading into the Colosseum. You look at parts of the ground where history was made and it truly feels special.

I've been to the MCG for 3 Crows games and a pretty amazing stat is that I've witnessed 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. For anyone that's not familiar with AFL a draw is extremely uncommon and the fact that we came back from over 50 points down to draw with a kick after the siren is rather incredible. It's also important to note that the MCG is in Melbourne, Victoria and is an away ground for my team the Adelaide Crows, based in Adelaide.

This particular game was the Collingwood Magpies vs the Adelaide Crows. It was a bizarre atmosphere at the ground as the MCG holds over 100k people and the Pies are one of the most supported clubs but only 30k people were at the game. Crows fans always travel well and probably had about 10k fans at the game. The Crows were massive favourites heading into the game so it was quite a shock to go 50 points down early in the 3rd quarter but we managed to fight back and clinch the draw after the siren. We sat behind the goals right where Mccgovern kicked the goal but it was such a weird feeling to celebrate a draw. Without a doubt the most bizarre game I've ever been to.

You can check out the full highlights of the game here:

Here are a few extra pictures from over the years (most are before the games hence why it's so empty):

Looking forward to getting over to the G again this year :)

I've never been to the G. Although in fairness I've probably only been to half a dozen games in my life. Won $220 on Port once. Picked them to win by between 3 and 5 goals. Put down $20 at 11:1.
Paid for my tattoo.

I can't recommend heading over there enough it's just a great place. I really want to go to a sell out game, the biggest crowd I saw at the G was the 2015 elimination final between the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide Crows which was about 60-65k and definitely one of the best games I've ever been to :D
