Is Blogging The "King of Content Marketing"?

in #affiliate5 years ago (edited)

Content marketing...first off, what is it?

Dictionary says:  "a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services"

OK...sounds right. I mean, that's what you were thinking too right?  But today we have so many options and every time you turn around there seems to be some bright new shiny social media platform that all the "cool kids" are using and you feel like you've been left behind.

But there's this one thing, that's been around for a looong time, that we tend to forget about (or maybe just ignore)...blogging.  I know that I come and go in this platform mainly because it's work!  I mean who wants to sit around and brainstorm ideas that you can consistently write content about?  It's hard and if you want to be successful at attracting an audience you have to be consistent.

However, it's the same with any platform so don't think that just because it's quicker or apparantly easier to make a quick Facebook post or Tweet that you'll instantly become a major influencer and you can move massive amounts of traffic to any offer.  Let's be serious because if you've tried any of this you know it doesn't matter what place your coming from...you have to build an audience with consistent, massive action.

So let's look at some statistics and see if blogging is still the "king".

  • 409 million readers view more than 22.2 billion blog posts overall each month
  • Every month, WordPress users publish about 91.8 million new posts and produce 48.9 million new comments.
  • Companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website.
  • 66% of B2B marketers who use blogs generate more leads than those who don’t.
  • Companies that blog have 55% more visitors to their websites.
  • US bloggers are projected to have a readership of 31.7 million by 2020
  • Blogs increase website traffic by up to 6x.
  • 80% of B2B marketers use blogs as a content marketing tactic.
  • 74% of Americans aged 18 to 29 years stated they read blogs in 2018.
  • 77% of people online read blogs.
  • 81% of US internet users trust the information and advice they find on blogs.
  • 61% of US online consumers have made a purchase after reading a blog that recommended it.
  • 70% of consumers stop to learn about a company through an article rather than ads.
Wow!  Those are some pretty persuasive stats don't you think?

So...that's why I've decided to rededicate myself to consistently blogging.  I know it works and I know that if I am consistent with it I can generate content for every other platform directly from blogging.  Think about these possibilities...if you're having trouble juggling all this stuff, just pick one thing that you are good at and use that.  Then take that content and repurpose it for other platforms.

I could make a short video about this information and post it on my YouTube or D-Tube channel.  I could easily and quickly make a post to every other social media account I own and drive traffic back to this blog.  I can get an entire weeks worth of content marketing done from one well thought out and edited blog post!

The only thing that keeps me from being consistent is my own mindset.  So I'm gonna vote yes on this question of is blogging still the "King" of content marketing.  At least for me...it's going to be.

By the way...could you please take a couple seconds and click through that YouTube link and subscribe to my channel please?  I promise I'll provide you some awesome content that could help you in your own journey building a following.  (See how easy that is?)
