FPV Low-Level Drone flying in woods

in #aerialphotography5 years ago

So I decided to do something different today. Instead of the typical high-altitude drone shots, I thought it would be fun to do some low-level FPV flying through the woods. (Be sure to view full screen for full effect!)

The flight and video all done while viewing through First-Person-View (FPV) Goggles. Setup is a DJI Mavic2 Pro and RE Goggles. I just love flying in FPV mode. It feels like you are actually looking through the cockpit onto a big screen TV. This is a MUCH different experience than flying while just looking up at the drone or looking at a smartphone screen. Truly immersive, and gives much better perspective for those photographers wanting a better framing view of pictures or video without having to do as much post-processing.

I don't do a lot of low-level obstacle racing or flying so yes, parts are a little choppy as I course correct. Not the usual cinematic super slow video that you see in video shoots or commercials, but a lot of fun to race around!
Buckle up and enjoy your flight!

Lol.

I love how the drone just stops dead and hovers...Sort of lends it a video game feel. Very cool. Ah, one of these days I'll get one and have some fun.

Thanks, yes we love it here, and the main reason we still work so many hours! The DJI drones are very easy to learn to fly. I'm sure some others are too, I've just never flown the others yet. If you let go the sticks, it automatically just stops and hovers. All kinds of GPS and camera wizardry to keep it solid, even in strong crosswind. This one will hover steady easily in even 20mph wind. The sensors worked really well. My first time flying this one in the danger zone, and the sensors kept it from hitting random dead branches and overhanging pine branches a few times in the flight. (I edited out a few of the stops).

I'll get one someday, when I drop one of my other hobbies I guess. I con't do everything. That property of yours looks pretty sweet...Looks a lot like where I grew up actually, obviously it's not though as I'm in Australia.

Totally enjoyed my 'walk' (flight?), it was as if I was right there... Cool race around! :)

Thanks! It is really a lot different trying to control at the faster speeds instead of the way I usually fly super slow for smooth video or still shots. Definitely a thrill, but I think to get serious with it would get a smaller, cheaper drone that I wouldn't have to worry so much about crashing. This one is my camera baby and have to be extra careful!
