Fog Filled Valley of Nolde Forest in the Morning

DJI_0451.jpg

Just down the road, past the end of this golf course is the Nolde Forest State Park. Being a large body of undeveloped land, laden with tall and dark pines, it would certainly make sense that the dense forest would be cooler than the surrounding exposed to sunlight lands, and thus allowing for the creation of clouds at the surface, otherwise known as fog!

When the temperatures drop low enough, in a given volume of air with set moisture content, that volume of air will witness its relative humidity, or the humidity relative to saturation at that temp, increase towards 100% or saturation. Saturation is when fog will form.

Dew Point is the temperature at which the air will have reached 100% relative humidity! So last night, the air surrounding the forest dropped low enough to reach the dew point! Which was actually in the 70's which is a testament to how hot and humid it has been lately. But with no actual precipitation!
