Detailed overview of Aergo's technology, team, and popularity
Overview + Technology
A lot of projects in the cryptocurrency sphere developing products to solve the problem which wasn’t existing before they discussed it in the whitepaper. Some of them are chasing scalability, decentralization, and do not think about people who will use such platform at all. Only a few blockchains are customer-oriented and developing something which is easy to use and easy to describe. Aergo project aims to bring blockchain-based solutions to enterprises and business by building upon Coinstack - blockchain platform already used by firms and developed by Blocko, South Korean company and one of the biggest providers blockchain-based solutions in the whole world.
Additionally, writing smart-contracts on top of Aergo platform is far easier than on any other blockchain, Aergo implemented SQL-based smart-contracts to allow developers to use one of the most common languages instead of Solidity. In fact, 90% of all developers are able to write on SQL.
Besides Coinstack elements in it’s Core, Aergo has three more technical developments called Aergo Chain, Aergo Marketplace and Aergo Hub.
Aergo Chain is the network of blockchains which consists of the main chain and side chains. Aergo using Delegated Proof of Stake to achieve consensus. This algorithm works as follows: all existing nodes choose X-amount of nodes taking part in future voting. This means not all nodes in the network are taking part in voting for the right blocks, but only some of them. The same algo was successfully used in EOS.
Aergo Hub is the interface for those who develop dApps on top of Aergo to “communicate” with the blockchain. Hub allows developers to code applications in private or public repositories (similar to GitHub) and helps to switch the type of repository if needed. The reason Aergo decided to implement this type of development inside of the project is quite simple - there’re a lot of applications/projects aiming for privacy and their privacy will be guaranteed in private repositories. On the other side, there’re a lot of open-to-public applications and they can run on to of Aergo general chain.
If developers of second-layer applications decide to test the product, they can switch the repository to “private” and purchase some computing power from the Aergo Marketplace, establish, say, 10,000 nodes, and test the application. It is a place where computing resources meet developers.
Roadmap
According to the roadmap, public network launch will take place on 2019 Q1 and Aergo’s Hub and Marketplace will be developed by 2019 Q3. By the end of the 2018 Aergo team will roll out test network of Aergo Chain.
This means the community will have an opportunity to try test net in the near future and, what is really impressive, to use the Main Net features in several months after that. The Roadmap is very clear, mentioned only the most important milestones of development, not events or sales.
Team
Aergo Board
The board of Aergo project consists of 3 people: Phil Zamani, Hun Young Park and Roderick van Der Graaf.
Phil Zamani is probably the most recognizable of them. He had an interview with ICODROPS and impressed the Russian community with his view of the project, also he had a speech to Korean community back in July.
Phil has an experience as Global Head of Big Data & Cloud Biz Models at Santander, Global VP Sales, and Biz Dev.
Hun Young Park has 12 years of experience in Relational Database Management Systems (DBMS) and distributed solutions, and a great experience in Machine Learning solution development.
Roderic van der Graaf is a founder of Lemniscap, an investment and advisory firm in the blockchain space. Also, Roderick has 13 years of experience in equity derivatives trading in top trading organizations like Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Rabobank, Bear Stearns, LIM.
Committee heads
Won Kim (Technology Committee Head) has 9 years of experience in Relational DBMS and 6 years of research & development of distributed systems.
Jane Lee (Finance Committee Head) has 7 years of experience in Strategy Consulting at Accenture
Alison Shim (Ecosystem Committee Head) has 5 years of experience in Strategy Consulting at Accenture
Technology Team
Bernardino Ramos is a software developer with 19 years of experience, creator of Binn, LiteReplica and LiteSync
Kyung Tae Lee is an expert in Graph database, has 12 years of experience in Relational DBMS and development of Query engine.
Sung Jae Woo and Fun Woo Park both have 18 years of development of relational DBMS combined.
Moreover, according to the whitepaper, Aergo has about 25 additional developers from Blocko, the main supporter of Aergo.
The Business team
includes Mason Park, Han Kim, Seona Kim and Camron Miraftab. They have outstanding skills and experience in Advertising, Marketing, Public relations development, Consulting, Blockchain research.
Advisors
The project has 7 advisors, I will tell about 3 the most outstanding and meaningful (in my opinion):
- Eddie Alleyn - technology expert in security and secure communications. He was leading special projects for the UK Government, in the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for 35 years.
- Pierre F. Suhrcke - leading Fintech expert and investor in Europe, spent more than 17 years in various senior executive management positions in Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank. Venture partner of Tempocap - technology investment firm.
- Read Hartani - technology specialist and strategist with over 20 years contributing to the development of the Internet, Mobile, and AI technologies. Holds Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence.
