A Little Advice From a Little Fish to a Little Fish Part 2
Hello everyone!! How has your Steemit journey been so far? I decided to create a second installment of A Little Advice From a Little Fish to a Little Fish. Here's my first article:
https://steemit.com/newbie/@snowpea/a-little-advice-from-a-little-fish-to-a-little-fish
Today I'm going to talk about blindspots. We all have them. It's when you're completely oblivious about an aspect of yourself. Everyone, even the most introspective people have them. The great thing though (or maybe not so great, depending on your perspective), is often other people notice them! If you're looking for ways to improve your effectiveness here on Steemit, then read on!! This article will have two aspects to it. First off, I'm going to list a few blindspots you may be unaware of.
1.) Not editing your posts. I have come across many posts that contain errors. This may cost you upvotes. It may not seem fair when you have something valuable to say, but let's face it, grammar nazis do exist. After you write your post, read it. Then read it again. Have someone else read it and correct your errors. Then post it. After you post it you can still edit it too! :P Make it perfect!!
2.) Not being social enough. This can include obsessing over your own blog, not commenting, not joining discord... What is discord? Facebook has messenger and Steemit has discord!! Click on the link here to join the Peace Abundance and Liberty network. https://discord.gg/z7EcbqK
It's a support group for minnows. :) When you get there you register with their bots and start making friends!
3.) Leaving short and spammy comments. I do realize many here don't speak English. Perhaps those few cents they make on an upvote truly makes or breaks them, and they're just trying to feed their family. That's why I don't flag them. However if you go around saying, "nice post." Or "follow me, I'll follow you." you will eventually be flagged. Other times it's really a bot commenting, and other times the person didn't really read it, even though they could've. Take the time to let the author know you read the post and that you appreciate it!
4.) Being too controversial or negative. This was one of my blind spots once. I was slightly offended at an article and I let the person know. This person did not take well to my comments and actually muted me. I didn't even think I was being that much of a jerk, but I was muted nonetheless!! I am a peacemaker by nature and had to do a self-check into my own heart. We made amends and he unmuted me, but that experience is something I'll never forget. I'm not discouraging healthy debate. God says, "Whatever is true, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report...focus on these things." (Phil 4:8) ....thinking back to one of my prior articles...hmmm... definitely room for improvement there ;P
5.) Not posting with enough voting power My voting power is not anywhere near 100% at the time of posting this... mostly because I was so psyched to finally start giving people a penny! :D That said, if you can better reward those who comment on your posts, do it. Wait until your voting power is higher before you share that material! :)
I said my article has two aspects to it. I thought if you want me to, I can take a look at your blog, your comments, ect. and tell you what I think your blind spot is. Just type check out mine in the comments, or something along those lines, and I will take a look. Maybe not right away if I'm busy, but I will respond to every comment. :) Also, would you like to tell me what my blind spot is? You are absolutely welcome to!! Remember, I'm a little fish too, and we're in this together!
Love, snowpea ❤😘🙂🌸

Nice article @snowpea. You really have a gift for writing. Keep Steemin on!
Thank you!! There's a lot going on right now and I kinda ran into a writer's block of sorts lol.
Well, heads up, I'm going to nominate you for the 7 day b@w challenge tomorrow...if you don't mind :)
Absolutely!! That might be just the spark I need!! (No pun intended) :P
Hey there! I´m just here to check on you and to drop a random spammy comment!
Well, because I like you, I'll make an exception just this once @wolfenlord. ;)
Your SBD is currently worth over $500, get a hold of me to take advantage of the opportunity.
How is that possible? Isn't it worth a little over $50? I'm still very confused about cryptocurrencies...
It is currently worth 14 times as much, if you want to cash it out.
I sent most of it to you @papa-pepper! I owe you money still from when I borrowed from you a couple years back and I said I'd pay you back but then I couldn't. This is a perfect opportunity to do just that if you will accept it as part of what I owe you.
Let's just consider it paid in full.
AWESOME!!! Thank you!!! :)
And thank you too Sister!
A little advice yet big help! I appreciate it.
Forgive me if it's an obvious question. What's the difference steemit.chat and discord? Thank you
Hi @cheneats!! I'm glad this article was helpful to you. Discord is a whole different app on my phone. The setup is different, I believe it's more active as far as users go, and there are also voice chat aspects to some channels on discord. :)
Thank you. I assume it's only for Steemit users.
Thank you for the offer to check out mine. You are very kind. <3 https://steemit.com/homesteading/@cheneats/mr-permaculture-on-adventure-hugelkultur-on-my-driveway
I don't see any blind spots here @cheneats! You're doing great!! Thoughtful comments, great material, ect. Way to go!! :)
Thank you so much for your time, kindness, and comment!
Great effective advice @sweetpea which unfortunately is often overlooked by many especially simple things like the first point not editing errors.
I'm surprised you were muted because of a comment which I'm sure you intended no harm or offense. Its such an art to have to keep on wondering if our comments will annoy others before we post. Anyway, glad you guys managed to bury the hatchet and move on.
I'm glad you enjoyed my article!! :) I was very surprised when I was muted too haha.
Hi beauty,
Thanks for sharing this post with all of us!! I did learn a few things... like Discord!! I actually got it to speak with my sister while we gamed... (LOL, don’t judge!)... But I had NO idea that Steemians used Discord too. Maybe I don’t know enough about Discord, but how would I go about finding others on Discord, and is it easier to connect with people on there? I’m just wondering because ever since joining Steemit, I have only communicated with other Steemians on Steemit. So perhaps this other way would benefit me. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
I definitely agree that editing your post is such a good idea! It makes for a better read, and allows for your content to be viewed as higher quality.
Great post, and thanks for all the reminders!
Happy Holidays, and Best Wishes to you!
Stephanie
Does the link work above to send you to PAL? If not, I'll send you another invite. There are tons of people there -- it's like a giant chatroom and you would definitely make connections if you got involved. :)
Thanks for reading, and happy holidays to you too!! :)
If you could send me another link to PAL, that would be great! (Can I ask what PAL stands for?)
Sure! https://discord.gg/mcDYmYm it stands for Peace, Abundance and Liberty :)
Thanks for the useful tips. I didn’t have a chance to check out Discord yet, but I definitely will!😉
good advice my friend for anyone. I see a lot of merit in what you say. Thanks @snowpea.
This is really great! I'm super new to Steemit and have been wallowing around trying to figure out whether it was worth it all the effort or not honestly. I definitely like that it's a blog-style site that has a social aspect to it.
I'm hoping to find my groove here eventually. Though I've only written one post as of yet.
Thanks for this post!
Welcome to Steemit!! I'm glad you're here!! It takes a little while to learn everything and find your way sometimes, but you will if you keep trying. :) Thanks for reading!! :)
Thanks for the tips. I'm off to check out Discord right now.
